Over the past week Tom, Dan, and their friends have done extensive BF6 testing! This includes gaming on Strix Halo, PS5, PS5 Pro, RTX 9070 XT, and RTX 4090! In doing said testing quite a few discoveries were made about performance in modern games...so let's talk about it!

Feel free to write in below regarding subjects related to BF6, RADEON, console performance, or Nvidia! You have ~4 hours to submit below!

Can't wait for Nvidia to release the RTX 9070 XT and copy AMD's naming scheme as well! All jokes aside. Is Console Optimisation helping the game more than usual, or would you still say that the PS5 ~= 6700 XT and PS5 Pro ~ between 78000 XT & 9070?

What do you think, will FSR 4 work in the release version? Or we need to edit the "whitelist" in the driver?

Isn't BF6 showing that raster lighting was always and still is a viable option, even for dynamic maps with tons of destruction? Also that in today's age, reaching for a larger audience is more important than competing with top of the line graphics. Even CoD gave up their raytracing ambitions as most people play an low settings anyway in a competitive shooter. I'm just sad about the singleplayer not providing future proof rtx settings.

Is gaming hardware advancement being held back because many of the most popular competitive multiplayer games are old, and players deliberately run them on low settings, which makes them playable on potato-class hardware?

Can you further detail the CPU overhead issue that Nvidia GPU drivers cause? I am trying to better understand the issue.

Trevor Renfro

Is the GPU driver overhead for CPUs affecting older hardware, such as the RTX 2060 Super, i7-10700K, and similar, or is it more limited to the newer hardware?

Hi Tom and Dan, did you also experience a lot of shimmering on foliage and details in the BF6 beta? In my experience the only way to get rid of it was to render in native resolution and use AA (preferably DLAA, but anything other than TAA looks fine as well). In my opinion the sharpness was also way too high by default (50%) where as 5-10% looks much better. Other than that, I was surprised the "Auto" graphics settings for my 3090 defaulted to "Low" (I use a 3440x1440 monitor). Also the beta convinced me to finally upgrade my 5900X to a 5700X3D as the ingame FPS for my GPU were about 10 FPS higher than my CPU. Just about what I need to hit 90-100FPS on average in Low settings.

I've learned from the community that this is the absolute most and least optimized game that's ever existed and the graphics are the best and worst we have ever seen ever! What's your take on Schrodinger's Battlefield?
