End of 2025 Telegrams for Dawid Does Tech Stuff, Tom, and Dan! (Patreon)

That's a wrap for 2025! And, as usual that means Tom will be recording with Dawid, and then Dan, for two episodes total that both look back at 2025, and then forward at 2026. For those who want a refresher, below you will find lists of the major news of 2025, and the expected news for 2026!

Also note - predominantly the Dawid Episode will focus on looking back at 2025, and the Dan Episode will focus on looking at the future. Obviously, you CAN ask Dan about 2025 and Dawid about 2026 - but just keep in mind what the focus will be for each. Again, feel free to ask whatever, but understand what we will generally be looking for. :)

2025 Subjects:

RDNA 4 saw many delays, but ultimately launched to great fanfare and success in DIY.

Blackwell was announced with incredibly misleading performance claims, and ultimately launched to very bad reviews with horrible supply.

For the first half of 2025, Blackwell saw immense instability issues.

As Nvidia announced, that they will produce 40% fewer gamin gpus does it have as a big affect on the diy Market as it will have on OEM systems. What will butique builders do if they cant buy SSDs, Ram and Nvidia GPUs in the first half of 2026. On Amazon (Germany) every mostly normal priced SSD has delivery times up to 6 Months.

What do you guys think of Lip Bu and his running of Intel? From my perspective it seems like for him this is purely for personal gain over bringing Intel back into a competitive position.

How do you guys feel about the health of the PC market? From a DIY consumer standpoint it seems...not great. Speaking to others who work with/for OEMs/SIs I also get that sentiment from them. Higher than historic pricing is here to stay, and I can accept that to a degree but compounded with everything else financially + seemingly more aggressive boom and bust hardware cycles it sometimes makes it feel not worth it...until I build the PC. 😉

Is it time to go back to Huananzhi X99 build with special DDR3 compatible CPU and boards? Price on them has not gone up significantly... yet. Also since the comunity has find out ways to retrofit TPM 2.0 on these motherboard, maybe it's not too bad of an idea in this trying times?

For 2026, will Dan get some MLID vacation now that less launches are ahead? Do you people expect more software related issues in 2026.... eg hardware is good but some slack, rushed part in software stack will cause issues especially in launches?
