April Fools! No wait, that's next week.......

Couldn’t be me riding to the defense of American Made: a great movie!

Rob

The evolution of the approach to the 60 second plot description is… quite something. 10 second warning in 2019: *PANIC* 10 second warning now: *pours drink; stretches*

Rebecca Nardi

Not only did Road House not get bullied into theaters, the filmmakers had a special screening of the movie for Jeff Bezos on his yacht to convince him to put it in theaters...and the result was that the film is still streaming-only.

I'm a bit of a UFC fan (well, less a UFC fan than an MMA fan who accepts that UFC is the biggest game in town). If you are ever curious why people could be into such a weird sport, I recommend the videos of youtuber Napoleon Blownapart, who approaches the topic with humor, empathy, and a level of intellect that makes him as close as MMA will ever get to what Norman Mailer was to boxing. https://youtu.be/c6skODvKGO0 That said, making Rick Dalton a UFC fighter is such a massive mis-reading of the character and the movie Road House that I have absolutely no faith in the remake not being complete shit. Oh, and an aside: Edge of Tomorrow is one of my go-to examples when I bring up the idea of social responsibility in media. The title of the original novel (All You Need is Kill) is so intensely badass that there's no way it wouldn't have opened #1 at the box office if they had used that title for the movie. The problem, though, is that you can't plaster billboards all over every major city with Tom Cruise's face and that title. All it would take is one mentally unstable person getting the wrong idea to cause a tragedy. So you end up with the movie going with this milquetoast, no-meaning title and suffering at the box office as a result. Which sucks for that movie, but was probably the right call from a social responsibility standpoint.

I am such a huge Jamie Bell fan. Loved him in Jumper.

Matthew Holsapple

I love that you didn't shy away politics and outage on this one. Thank you! It is so important we don't let the Trump insanity make people forget what the Bush presidency was.

Frank McCormick

I feel like a dumb-dumb, but I don't get Chris's husband's joke?

John Ananias

One of you HAS to do Mandy Moore for the next IMDb game now.

Olivia Davidson

Justice for the Rendition sound drop. Also for Scooter the Neutered Cat.

Chauncey Telese

I remember Rachel Dratch doing Harriet Myers on SNL!

Rob Watson

Thinking about how Malin Akerman’s Children’s Hospital character was named “Valerie Flame.”

Leeya

Those of us Garys who are also members of the Screen Drafts Patreon have enjoyed a surprising amount of Dunkaccino content this week

Elliott Sainsbury

I feel like "Locked Up" totally had Oscar Buzz, but I might've lost my mind during 2020

Clint

i also feel like this is the “last gasp” before streaming and everything (esp this type of material) now being a six-part miniseries…

Brandon Skidmore

The ending of this movie felt very “but at least they didn’t get divorced” in a way I thought was real dumb.

J Kyle Wilsor

We’re offering Rhianna the opportunity to direct a movie before Beyoncé? I love me some Rhi-Rhi, but…

Ruan Felipe

I understand the Spotfy Police reasons but i really missed the RENDITION!!!! song

Movies That Made Us Gay

I definitely have a memory of buying a ticket for Saw, having a change of mind, then walking into Garden State to see it for the second time. The choke hold that movie had on me and my friends fall 2004 in my freshman year of college.
