Saw Anora last weekend and I'm 100% going to be an annoying Anora bro for the rest of the season. It's *so* good! Glad the Gothams are recognizing it. Also, for some dumb reason I didn't draft The Substance for the Movie Fantasy League, and now I'm feeling like the football fan who isn't necessarily rooting against his favorite team because he doesn't have any of their players drafted, but also doesn't feel as good as he should when they are winning.

Femme is by no means a bad movie at all, Screenplay is not the category where I would nominate it (I think Nathan Stewart-Jarrett’s performance is great though, personally)

I saw The Outrun. I thought the movie itself is very good and Saoirse is fantastic in a role with a high degree of difficulty that could feel very cliched but doesn't in her hands; I would love to see her get nominated.

I don’t understand why both Challengers & Queer can’t both show up in the awards race. Both are with different studios and have very different narratives affiliate with them. Other than Supporting Actor, neither are particularly competing in the same major categories. We’ve seen directors have two films compete well in awards race (Soderberg, Eastwood, Spielberg). Why can’t the same happen for Guadagnino’s films?

Being that I only have the 1 straight-up box office play in RED ONE (so now I'm more invested in RED ONE's success than I figured I'd be before I submitted a roster), the Gotham awards are where things really start for me - they're still far too early, I'll always say THAT (I like a year to be assessed when it's actually done or truly-close-to done), and points aren't too abundant yet, but at least something's started for my crew that includes ANORA, A REAL PAIN, THE BRUTALIST, and THE OUTRUN.

I love how deep dive and tangential you both get, but I do wish you'd sometimes mention which characters the actors are when you sometimes discuss performances on your tangents - esp for lesser known actors. Ex: which Anora Russian was your favorite performance? not the twink or the hot one but which of the other two?
