The Gary top ten is here! Thank you so much for the hundreds (!!) of you who submitted your ballots for the Gary top ten, which will be featured on the upcoming Superlatives episode! But now: it's time to decide a Best Film of 2024 voted on by you all! Voting will be open until MON FEB 3 at 6PM!!

As a reminder: we decide a winner based on a preferential ballot, just like the Academy (explainer here). In the doc linked to this post, you will provide your ranking for the ten films that make up the Gary Best Picture lineup for the past year. That means you pick your favorite as your FIRST place film, your second favorite as your SECOND place, your least favorite as LAST place, etc. Remember, duplicate answers will be discarded (it doesn't help a movie's chances to only vote for it in all slots, anyway).

The Superlatives episode will also reveal the 10 runners-up to this lineup as well, but for now, vote away!! Like last year, the Garys have selected 7 Best Picture Oscar nominees and went their own way with the remaining 3 contenders. Your Gary Grolsch People's Choice Award nominees are...

So happy I Saw The TV Glow made it. Going to have to find a way to watch Nickel Boys in Australia.

Can ANYONE please explain to me what people enjoy about the Dune movies?? 😩 I feel so inadequate lol. I can appreciate the crafts to a certain extent, but so far it’s 366 minutes of uninteresting and very sandy politics…and why are we raving about the performances? I’m just confused. I may not be a fantasy-head, but I have a lot of time for these stories! But even Attack of the Clones is more memorable to me than either of these movies…what am I missing?

Keegon

Oh, boy. The Kirsten Dunst in me wants to watch both parts of Dune to be a good voter (A Dunest Voter if you will) But I know that will be A Real Pain.

Benji Black

I guess if I didn't see some of the movies, then I should put them at the bottom because it is very unlikely to actually have an effect that low.

Branden Stewart

I wish each question wasn't mandatory! I'd prefer not to have to rank movies I haven't seen. That said, my vote is in! :)

Ben Thomas

Will you be releasing the vote tallies afterwards? Would be fascinating to see the preferential voting in action.

Marie

I saw the TV glow domination incoming

Tad Hopp

Still haven't seen Nickel Boys but since I didn't care for Wicked, Dune 2 or I Saw The TV Glow, I opted to put it higher than those since I'm pretty sure I'll like it.

Molly Fromkin

Very disappointed in my fellow Garys not to see Thelma on this list

German Munoz

Voted! The Substance hive, rise up!!! 💉💉💉

Liesl

I really wish I hadn't submitted my ballot before finding out that Nickel Boys will finally be in my city this weekend! Oh well.
