Calling all Garys! It's time for mailbag submissions for our first ever Patreon exclusive mailbag episode! It's time to ask Joe and Chris whatever question you want answered about the Oscars at large, the Oscar season ahead, and any THOB obsession in-between. And if you see a question from a fellow Certified Gary, why not throw their question a heart/like/fav! (Sugar Daddy Garys, please submit your question on the Sugar Daddy exclusive post ty ty)

Part of the apotheosis into character actor is "lots of credits," and of course older, established actors are more likely to have that, but there are younger actors who work a lot, but aren't typically described that way.

You should have a special mailbag episode of “fan hot-takes!” … And then you both discuss the take. For example: Best Actress 2015 should have gone to Reese Witherspoon for ‘Wild’ — the only reason Julianne Moore won for ‘Still Alice’, was because she’d been shafted for an oscar for years. How Moore lost for ‘Boogie Nights’ is beyond me.

Do you think the Oscars are becoming easier or harder to predict? With more historical data points to draw from every year and the increasing transparence of the industry due to technology and journalism, the public seems to have more insight than ever into the inner-workings of the awards world, which could either help or hinder forecasting the Academy's behavior. I have a background in mathematical modeling and I love your discussions about trends and patterns in Oscar nominations/wins over the years just as much as your analysis of departures from those trends and patterns, so I selfishly want your input before I waste hundreds of hours building an Oscar simulation!

Hey Chris and Joe! I love your show! I have two questions. First is for Chris. What is with the strange way your pronounce Patreon with the ah sound and not the a sound? Lol- but seriously, when Marissa Tomei won the Oscar, a number of folks called it undeserving, but she has now, I believe, proven herself with a long and successful career filled with interesting choices. Is there another person or people who you think may have not been the popular choice when they won but have earned the respect over years of thoughtful and interesting work.
