Joe, did you watch Passions?

Annaliese

Having a real weird day but hearing Joe say “Jello, you got a bass” made me so happy, thank u Joe n Chris

Mera Hitchman

Eden Riegel is one of my favorite soap actresses, hands down, and one of my “how did she not cross over, she’s so talented!” All-Stars (along with Leven Rambin, among others). Oooh I know a question for Joe now…

Rob Watson

Joe, I decided to adapt the Steel Magnolias question to *current* GH stars only, and came up with what I think is a fairly killer lineup: M’Lynn: Brook Kerr Truvy: Maura West Claree: Nancy Lee Grahn Ouiser: Jane Elliot Annelle: Sofia Mattsson Shelby: Tabyana Ali

Traci

That was amazing to hear the casting choices of the soap opera characters. Incredible! I’d love to hear Joe cast Felicia and Lorna in another mother-daughter film.

Sean O'Neil

Justice for the Emmy-winning Dorothy Lyman! (The OG Opal Gardner).

Clint

speaking of message boards, does anyone else remember the imdb message boards? also, does anyone else remember premiere magazine and their message boards? oh the many weird little facets of online culture in the 2000s…

Michelle Brosius

I really loved Television Without Pity. I also remember when AV Club was a decent place to get a good TV & Film discussion going. Vulture seems to be following in its path of slowly doing away with really interesting critique, reviews, and content.

I was really into TWoP, both recaps and message boards, during its heyday and am fairly sure that I read Joe's recaps for Hidden Palms, which were MUCH better than the show.

Frank McCormick

As both a soap fan and someone for whom TWoP was a formative website, this episode was just for ME! I never read any of your recaps, unfortunately, Joe. I was a Buffy/Angel/Charmed recap girlie. I still get random recall of Demian turns of phrase like "Stoopid Majikal Kreatures" and "The Prue Halliwell Memorial Closet for Tit-Slings and Other Fashion Atrocities." I hope he's doing well. (But a giant FUCK YOU to the guy who did Doctor Who/True Blood. Mean, pretentious bitch who blocked me on the boards several times! I get that you all had to be ruthless on the boards to keep any sort of order at all, but I did NOT deserve it! Sorry if he's your bestie or whatever.) And to connect back to soaps, I was big on the soap threads, and I STILL have a Facebook group with some TWoP exiles from there that are at this point some of my longest-standing friendships. Listening to you describe soap backstories and storylines like "BJ's Heart" and "Carly Comes To Town" and "Viki's Alters Hold Dorian in the Basement" and "Lucy's Duck Sigmund" while Chris fully dissociates was perhaps the greatest fifteen minutes of my podcast life. And your soap casting is impeccable! Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser totally need to be Clairee and Ouiser (and if you don't think Robin Strasser can play cranky, check out her on Twitter), though you're right that on her own the incomparable Jane Elliot is perfect for relentlessly mean Ouiser.

I read Mighty Big TV because I am an old.
