We're back in THR Roundtable territory, this time with the 2018 THR Director Roundtable--featuring two directors in the hunt this year (and two who might be next year). Here we have Ryan Coogler, Bradley Cooper, Alfonso Cuarón, Marielle Heller, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Spike Lee talking their 2018 films and it's a fun time! We talk about the directors sparring over NYU vs. USC, Cooper's ego, and what director from the 2018 season we want to see in this lineup.

As a neurodivergent person I found Poor Things to be very emotional, in a way I haven’t felt with Lanthimos since The Lobster.

While I agree with joes larger point of not being excited that Cuarón is doing tv, I will say, I’m so grateful that Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are, Vallée’s Sharp Objects, and Nichols’ Angels in America exist. All are incredible, masterful pieces of art I return to again and again.

Also mixed to unsuccessful on Maestro but with affection for what it's trying. And then I stumbled on it... The thing that really makes me not able to approach it is Documentary Now! It's literally the best funded and most humourless Doc Now segment. Which both helps me forgive it and also realize that yeah, it's more project than poetry.
