Happy Monday, Garys! Sound off on your thoughts on today's The Woman in the Window episode!

EWQ

Nightbitch is a great book, a sort of pregnancy/ parenting body horror with a detour into artistic inquiry (because Amy Adams was an artist whose career is on the back burner at the start of the book).

Jenny Maurer

“A second woman has entered the window!” Thanks for the laugh on a Monday, lads

Annaliese

Cannot emphasize enough how loudly i said CROSSING DELANCEY HAS A PICKLE GUY when they were trying to remember what other movie has a pickle guy

Pella's Window

I think k said this on a previous post but when you finally get past watching Oscar movies and get to watch Gentleman Prefer Blondes, it should be part of an excursion episode called "Catch Up Entertainment"

Michelle Brosius

I read the book first... I do recall that it was a fast-paced read, highly "unputdownable" to quote Stephen King, but it was also a very predictable thriller, and when you see it on screen you only see the cracks in the storytelling and the tired formula. Did anyone else who read the book feel like he also borrowed from the movie "The Game"?

Hayden Claborn

“People are hating this season of True Detective” It has an 81 on Metacritic. I’m not on social media so maybe I’m missing something. I also haven’t seen it yet because I’m bad with TV.

Jennifer Jason Leigh in latest season of Fargo is a wild performance. I loved her!

Chrissy

I was delighted to hear the Fear Street films mentioned. They were a lot of fun and I think Chris would enjoy them

Marie

thank you chris for representing people who aren’t on the past lives train. there are dozens of us!

Peter Smith

Thanks to all the more financially secure Peters that allow me to have the experience of the pod talking directly to me.

Eliseo

Great episode! Also… Some of the people on Twitter just need to log off of Twitter for a while. IYKYK

This Had Oscar Buzz

Also apologies for the long lead hint from months ago, but congrats to all who correctly guessed JJL in the Six Timers guessing game poll lol

Marie

Is there a list somewhere of people who are on the verge of joining the six timers club?

Sam Hetherington

Pretty much the only thing I remember about this movie is Katya yelling “JENNIFER JASON LEIGH” on that one episode of I Like to Watch

Rob

Sending you both much love. The Internet’s quite significant stretch to turn a thing that isn’t a thing out of context and into ‘a thing’ is quite something to behold. Garys know. Anyway, another really great episode on a hot mess of a movie!

Stuart K

Cannot thank you enough for the information that Four Daughters is available on Kanopy!

Clint

re: oscar “scam” stories, during the production/promotion of the deer hunter (1978) director michael cimino made up a bunch of lies about his background, saying that the movie was inspired by his own blue-collar upbringing and his time in the war…only for it to be revealed that he’d never served and came from a wealthy new york family.

Brandon Skidmore

Someone send Frances Fisher a copy of Nightbitch and let’s get her started now

Brandon Skidmore

Joe I am also really enjoying this season of True Detective!

Molly Fromkin

Speaking of Ryan Murphy, I was just listening to the Dear Evan Hansen episode and now I’m kind of dying for Joe’s deep dive on The Politician

Frank McCormick

I, too, am very skeptical of a certain kind of gay stanning, Joe, but I do think there is a difference between George Santos and Gypsy Rose. George Santos has sought to actively immiserate untold numbers of people with his politics, and would still be doing it if he had his druthers. Gypsy Rose killed her mom after years of unimaginable abuse, but as far as I'm aware, she isn't planning to make the whole world a worse place. There is a difference between them. I don't know why I feel the need to defend her honor from comparisons to George Santos, but I do, so there!

Leeya

I am READY for a Julianne Moore rewatch too! I hope we hear all about it.

Clint

criterion channel just announced a jane russell series coming next month…gonna give y’all credit for foreshadowing this!

Braeden Udy

This discussion led me to rewatch Atonement on valentines. What a lush, extremely felt, brilliant movie. Wright’s masterpiece? That dunkirk oner? All the soft edges in the youth scenes? That library sex scene? The music and editing reminiscent of a thriller? Gorgeous stuff.

I think when I first saw a trailer for woman in the window I thought it was a parody ala scary movie
