re: piwon mv and special fx loaded mvs, i do absolutely agree that there is not a single case in which ai is necessary and all work would be stronger without it. i am completely against it. i do think there is a place though for maximalist mvs and something to be said for recognising specific prod company/director styles. piwon worked with the same team for years (even after the director moved to a new company around duh!) and that same team (rigend - now obvious creative studio in the case of piwon's director) also worked on multiple xg/aespa mvs so a lot of the mvs known for this style are the same disctinctive team! which i think is very cool especially where all three groups have sci-fi lore. that said my favourite part of the mv is a lot of the sculptural prop work (viniorbini on insta - also worked lots with xg!) and a lot of the scene builds which were actually real in most cases!!!

Agree on the maximalist vids!!! and I also loved the sculptural work! which is what is so frustrating abt the ai use, I want to focus on the human creativity that's being utilised. I feel like my craving for white box MVs is tied up in the fact that it's getting harder and harder to tell what's real and what's not, especially (unfortunately) with these style of MVs and so the idea of a rly basic concept feels more and more appealing bc it's like a what you see is what you get kinda deal. idk the whole thing makes me sad bc I wish I could just let go and enjoy what's in front of me and ofc a lot of the time the artists don't have any say but it's tough!!
