A rare short episode covering the companion piece to our Real-time Painting piece! It's not often that I get to finish talking about a piece that quickly, but I suspect it's because I've really spoken a lot of what I wanted to say in our recent Series... Either way, I hope you find this little process breakdown helpful in it's own way!

As always, I would love to hear any questions you have, and thank you for your warm support here!

Guweiz, as always, love your art, specially your brush work. I'm working on a piece, using the tecnics that you showed on the live tutorial piece, and I have a question: how to improve or to better known where to put the lights and shadows when shaping the character? I am struggling to decide how to shape the forms and choose the colors for the shadows, with a front light, because always look like the character lose some form, loose some "thickness". I dont use lines to sketch, so it is not a problem that you mentioned here where when erasing the line the arm goes thiner. Anyway, I thank you in advantage. Love your job and I'm so happy to finally have the money to pay for your Patreon, I'm learning a ton!

Hey Guweiz, thanks for your work! I wanted to say my opinion about the topic of you wanting to have more of "your time" to increase the frequency of drawing your illustration, I think that's a good idea to sometimes have maybe a little bit "less content" that you do for us, so that you can focus on drawing more, I personally would love that. It is only my opinion tho, I understand that it's maybe a more complicated issue, but I personally understand the struggle with schedule & stuff like that, anyway thx for your work!! :)

Thank you for the very good question! Where to put the light and shadow comes directly from understanding the true "3D" structure of the element you are drawing. For example, is the forearm a simple cylinder, or does the curvature vary when it comes to areas like the bicep and tricep heads? This understanding comes from observing real life and photo references very closely, seeing what main surfaces you can simplify each item into! This could be a great chance for you to submit your progress and questions into the event discord channel, and I'll be able to directly review it and overpaint if needed!

Thank you very kindly for your understanding and compassion, I appreciate it greatly! I'm more than happy to share these videos and process walkthroughs because it's a way to express my thoughts and give more insight to those who care the most about my work! Although I'll be happy to take up a little less commercial or contract work to draw and share more with you guys :) It's a balancing act to say the least, so I'll keep trying to find the perfect balance for each time!
