The process steps explanation for this month's pieces is now up in video form! It was quite well received last time so I wanted to try this format again as it does allow for a nice flow and a good amount of elaboration. Please do let me know what you think as always - For example if it should be more compact or longer, or if there are any issues with my speech pacing - I want to improve and present better content for all of you, so any feedback is very welcome!Thank you for your support as always - Please do look forward to the Greyscale to Color tutorial video coming out tomorrow as well!Watch on YoutubeDownload Here

Very useful video as always! I still got a question, like how do you come up with more interesting poses?

guweiz

Glad you like it! To answer the question: Collect lots of references of poses you find interesting and pull them up whenever you are brainstorming something new to see if you can apply any of them. The challenge is really on executing the depiction of the pose and capturing the essence of it

I find the "THIS was my challenge at this point" and then "this was the solution I came up with" dynamic very helpful in these videos. It very much helps me reflect on why certain things may bother me at some points, and learn new tricks or philosophies of how to tackle them.

guweiz

I'm very glad that this style of explanation works out, as much as I try to be systematic, it feels much more natural to explain what's happening a bit at a time.

Really helpful to see how you tackle different scenarios and how you come up with the solutions!! One question not related to this topic 😅: how did you learn anatomy? Did you learn all the muscles names and drew each of them? Or did you just went for gesture drawings? I'm curious, I love how you start with a simple sketch for the pose 😊

2026-09-18 10:00 Hi Guweiz, thank you for sharing the process steps and tips, it's really helpful ! Just little advice here, maybe it will help others too, when you want to flip canvas horizontal, you can use in menu bar ''View -> Flip horizontal'' , it's better than '' Image rotation -> Flip canvas horizontal'' , especially when there's a lot of layers, because it doesn't flip the file, just view of it. Hope it makes sense :)

Thank you, that's a great tip!

Thanks! I mainly work with gesture to start with, but when there are situations requiring anatomy to be drawn precisely ,I will try to source detailed anatomy references

Wonderful art and video as always! I think this picture could be even better with some distortion effects on the mirror. I mean, when you break a mirror, it doesn't reflect the word the same way anymore. Some parts are smaller/bigger/shifted
