The first part of the Greyscale to Color tutorial is out - In this we mainly cover how to create a solid value sketch before proceeding to adding color. A lot of problems during the coloring stage actually source from the initial B/W sketch, so I wanted to dedicate a good portion of time to talk about that foundational process. Look forward to next month's video (Part 2) where we will talk about how to add and manage color, deal with color harmony/matching and more!Thank you again for your support and I hope to see you next month.

Thank you for the explanation! Help a lot.

man guweiz, you're pumping out content this month thank you.

Nifty Sushi

Was having trouble doing values recently then working my way up to color and it would usually end up really bad so am glad to see this while I still have the motivation to improve my piece

Djulina

Thank you! This is really useful stuff. You still need a good intuition for balances and creative choices to create a nice painting, but pretty much everyone should be able to follow these steps and come out with something great, or thats what I think at least. I know this has been asked before, but once again, it would be great if this community had a space where we could show our paintings and talk about it, and I think a discord server would be great for that.

Djulina

And I just noticed that both this video and the last one are called EP 09, I think you made a little mistake there ;)

guweiz

I'm happy the video helps, the key point is really to be systematic and keep consulting specific references when needed

guweiz

It's hard to put things very "instructionally", but I think it's good to try and present a basic breakdown on how to approach the topic! Regarding a discord server, I'm concerned with not having the time and energy to properly manage it/moderate it - it would be great if things always work out perfectly, but if they don't I really can't spare the extra energy to deal with conflicts/disputes/other troubles that arise. Nor do I wish to entrust this kind of responsibility to someone else. So I'm afraid for the moment it's not something that's going to happen, sorry!

guweiz

It's a bit of an odd naming convention that just stuck, I think the "EP" should probably be replaced with "month" since the numbers in the thumbnail indicate which monthly pack of videos it belongs to

guweiz

It's always nice to hear when someone really enjoyed picking up something new from a video! It's a tough balance as I don't want to excessively cut out painting parts, nor drag out a video to a point where it's not feasible for most people, so I'm glad this one hits the right spot for you :)

Jurjani

Not sure if you got what vielfraß meant, but he was referring to the number being the same as the previous video. So far we've seen only Q&A videos get the same number as the video of that particular month. BTW I vote for "EP".

Miiiguu

Great explanation, I like the style of presentation. I think you did the right decision to make a shorter more condensed video and basically still have all information in there. The way you compared values relations to each other is so much more practical then guessing and I just end up overthinking it, thank you for that tip 👍 Looking forward to part 2.

Soul77

This is really helpful video . Thank you Guweiz
