I'd love to see a tutorial about your approach on painting portraits! Please do consider making one in future .🙂

I'm sry if this has been said somewhere before but, what daily exercises do you do? I want to pick up some daily exercises but not sure what to, I'm currently only doing lines practices everyday.

Nick Sermuksnis

Not Guweiz, obvs but check out drawabox.com. Or The Stairs by Diego Lucia (operates similarly). This is still more for fundamentals and constructing figures/perspective, etc but I think the exercises you perform are good for warm-ups, too.

Maitake

thanks, will check it out! I just started taking quick gesture sketches, will do these daily

guweiz

Thank you for your suggestion!

I don't quite do exercises per se, but rather just work on the next piece/task. It's just a personal preference as I find it the most fun and helpful to learn "on the job". This way I get to directly practice exactly what I am doing the most. Of course, if you have specific learning targets and feel like certain exercises are helpful, by all means do them

Daoud

How does he go about finding his references? anybody know?

guweiz

Just google and pinterest mainly, nothing fancy!

Hello! As I see some people want a portrait tutorial, and if you ever decide to do it I would like to suggest one very important (in my opinion) topic for this one. It would be very interesting to hear your thoughts about creating original portraits. let me explain, when i do a photo study i really see my progress but when it comes to creating my own stylized characters, portraits always come out really bad, sometimes it feels like I didn't learn anything. Maybe I don't understand how to use references to create unique characters... I hope you understand what i mean. Sorry for a ton of text, I didn't figure out how to explain it in a shorter way >_<

Paul Quimma

hello guweiz, can you share to us your pinterest board?

Hoàng Cù

thank you Guweiz , you are a wonderful artist , indeed your knowledge is too much and too broad , some problems for me are overwhelming . I hope you can break down your knowledge to a more basic level to make it more accessible

Loved seeing your process for these pieces! The softness and eeriness of the images are wonderful, so listening about your thoughts during the process is really inspiring. Thank you for the video!

guweiz

I'm glad you find it helpful!

I understand, there is always a bit of challenge trying to cater to as much of the audience as possible, but I will try my best to clarify some basic terms in the future. Thank you for the feedback!

guweiz

Thank you for your suggestion! I think it would be a nice topic to tackle.

Hi there, first of all, I am a big fan of your art. I hope someday I can make a composition as good as yours. I just wanted to ask if you paint over each layer to add in details and refine the illustration, or do you copy the previous layer and add in details to that copied layer. Thank you so much for sharing your process with us.
