I think it surprised Buck almost as much as it surprised you. Which I kind of like about it, because it just shows how you never know what life has in store for you.

Welcome to the episode that shook the entire 9-1-1 fandom lol. I think I agree with you to some extent. Buck hadn’t really expressed interest in romantic behavior with other guys, except for that many people believe to be with Eddie. You can sorta see it with mannerisms with Eddie and how he acts. How he gets jealous when another person hangs with Eddie more and so forth. Honestly I did have to rewatch the show with this new concept in my head, it sorta made more sense now. He has certain behavior and how he acts toward Eddie that while not outright questioning his sexuality as fans, you can sorta speculate.

I think the fandom was shocked in a good way because honestly for years they wanted Buck and Eddie.. and that's what pushed the creators to this.. Absolutely, rewatching it makes more sense.

your thoughts at the end are so accurate. First of all, the show was on FOX for its first six seasons, but when they wanted to cancel it, ABC picked it up.. and they probably listened to the audience regarding Buck. Too bad they did it out of nowhere and so quickly.

It was only shocking for me in that the show actually went for it. Hardcore fandom peeps have thought Buck was bi since s1. There’s multiple times where he acts somewhat “flirty” with guys on calls despite having only dated women. And of course there’s the whole THING with Eddie whatever that is.
