Chapter 18: Awakened

Teddy bear Elora raised her head, using her two big button eyes to look at Li Pai. Though she had no idea how Li Pai planned to awaken her body, his demeanor didn't seem like he was lying. This made Elora feel a little excited. For centuries, no one from the Bet family had ever awakened from their slumber. Could it be that she really had a chance to wake up now?

In the next moment, Elora suddenly froze. She noticed that Li Pai was actually removing the bandages from her body! What was going on? Her body was only covered by those bandages. If they were removed, then...

'Maybe, this is a necessary step to awaken me...'

Elora tried to calm herself down. As an enthusiast of magic, she knew that different systems had different methods of practice. Perhaps, removing the bandages was not to take advantage of her.

But then, she saw Li Pai start to take off his pants!

Elora couldn't hold back her anger and began hitting and kicking Li Pai from behind. However, her efforts were futile, as her attacks were drowned out in the noise of the impacts.

Elora felt complicated emotions – regret, embarrassment, pain, and frustration. How could she have been so naive to agree to Li Pai's proposal to awaken her? He wasn't interested in awakening her; he just wanted to have his fun before dying.

Soon, Li Pai's consciousness was successfully extracted from the teddy bear's body, flying back into his own body. His soul began to merge with his body, and he started to feel sensations from his physical form.

At this moment, the housekeeper came out carrying a stack of clothes, breaking the awkward silence.

"Mistress, please put on these clothes for now," the housekeeper said, handing Elora a housekeeper outfit.

Elora blushed and glanced at Li Pai. He immediately turned away, giving her some privacy to change.

Meanwhile, the housekeeper noticed something strange and felt a shiver run down her spine. Elora's soul was drawn out of the teddy bear and back into her original body.

"Is it real...?" the housekeeper murmured in shock. "Could it be that the Mistress is truly awakening?"

Feeling guilty for almost attacking Li Pai, the housekeeper put away her bone-cutting knife and quietly retreated to the kitchen.

Back in the living room, Elora had changed into the housekeeper outfit. Though it fit her beautifully, the dress that was meant for a 1.6-meter tall person looked like a miniskirt on her 1.9-meter tall frame.

Li Pai's eyes lit up as he saw Elora in the outfit. With her curly golden hair, long eyelashes, big eyes, and deep eye sockets, along with her luscious red lips, she was breathtaking. But what made her even more alluring was her height. Li Pai couldn't help but feel a little more awake.

Elora noticed Li Pai's gaze and blushed. Despite being 36 years old, her obsession with magic had left her inexperienced in romance. What happened in the living room earlier only made her feel even more bashful in Li Pai's presence.

"Cough, shouldn't we discuss the important matters first?" the housekeeper interrupted, sensing the strange atmosphere. There was no time for a repeat performance.

The housekeeper brought their attention back to the impending threat on the second floor. "The ghost is about to break free! Let's get to the main point."

"Ah, right!" Elora blushed, "I must thank you first for waking me from my slumber."

Li Pai heard Elora's voice for the first time, which was as melodious as a nightingale's song, fitting her stunning appearance perfectly.

"Let's discuss our plan to deal with that thing upstairs," Li Pai said, glancing at the stairs. The compass was shaking even more violently, indicating that the ghost was about to break free.

Li Pai had little time to dwell on it as they had to face the ghost on the second floor. "Let's hurry and come up with a plan," he said to Elora and the housekeeper.
