Chapter 5: A Dangerous Hide and Seek

What an arrogant elementary school kid.

Li Kui looked at the elementary school student in front of him, maintaining a safe distance, and couldn't help but tremble. The kid was capable of sending him straight to the police station! The boy took a deep breath and held it for five seconds, his abdomen visibly expanding.

If that breath were to be released as a loud cry for help, the consequences would be unimaginable!

Li Kui found some solace in the fact that the clever kid possessed such power. However, he also felt troubled because he was now completely at a disadvantage. Once the boy cried for help, the people around would undoubtedly rush to apprehend him, the evildoer who wanted to harm the nation's flower. At that time...

"I will be mocked by my colleagues for months, and I might even earn an unpleasant nickname! So, kid, stay calm, calm down. I'm not a bad guy!" Li Kui pleaded.

"I'm very calm," Chen An said, rubbing his chin. He looked at the agitated man and said curiously, "Shouldn't your colleagues be kinder? How could they be so cruel? How can you deal with those wicked and evil forces with such a soft heart?"

"Believe me, they can be this cruel! How can they handle the black-hearted and evil criminals if they don't have such ruthlessness?"

"Uh... Perhaps you can try taking a deep breath to calm yourself," Chen An suggested.

After taking several deep breaths, Li Kui tried to calm down. He spoke in a soft tone to Chen An, "I'm not a bank robber; I'm an undercover agent. Do you know what that means? It means I infiltrate criminal organizations and take them down from the inside. If you don't believe me, take a look at my credentials."

Chen An skeptically examined the 'police ID' the big man took out and shook his head. "I'm not a suspicious person, but it's really hard to imagine someone like you becoming a police officer by forging credentials and joining the police force."

"I wasn't like this before," Li Kui said, on the verge of tears. "I don't know what happened, but ever since I was knocked unconscious by someone with a stick, my test scores dropped significantly. I used to score at least ninety points on exams, but now I can only manage fifty. I even tried going to the team doctor to see if I had brain damage, but she said I was perfectly fine and asked me not to cause trouble, as she already had a boyfriend."

Chen An exhaled the 'qi' he had gathered in his dantian, still a little skeptical. Although it was hard to believe that this man with questionable intelligence was a police officer, his tone seemed gentle. Perhaps Chen An shouldn't have immediately incited the crowd to take action. He should ask more questions and probe the man's background.

"By the way, why is a police officer like you wandering around here in plain clothes?" Chen An asked.

Li Kui remained silent for a while and looked nervously at the young boy before asking, "If I were to say that the person who knocked me out with a stick was someone about your height, wearing a school uniform like yours, and I want to catch her, would you think I'm doing something foolish?"

"Of course I would!" Chen An's mouth twitched as he looked at the bear-like man in front of him. "With your physique, you can't even beat a boy scout in basic training."

"But I let my guard down, and she caught me off guard."

Li Kui sighed and said, "That day, my 'comrades' and I had planned to rob a bank. I was responsible for blowing open the bank vault with explosives, while others would handle the hostages and police. Of course, I intended to invite the ringleader to the rooftop during that time and confess to him dramatically, saying, 'I'm sorry; I'm a police officer.' But right at that moment, a little elementary school student approached me from behind."

Damn...

Chen An was dismayed to find himself getting drawn into this absurd story.

"I naturally treated her as a mischievous brat and told her to go home, but she said she was lost and wanted to borrow my phone, just like you did. However, while I was distracted, she took out a perfume bottle from somewhere and attacked me with it," Li Kui said, patting the back of his head. "The bottle contained ether, and I was completely dazed. Then, she hit me on the head with a stick, and I passed out. When I woke up, everything was over. The robbers had been captured, and I, as an undercover agent, had accomplished a great deal."

"Wait a minute. Wasn't that little girl there to help the robbers?" Chen An asked, rubbing his chin. "Are you wandering around here to find that little girl and seek revenge?"

"Revenge or anything, it doesn't matter!" Li Kui covered his face. "The problem is the explosives! The explosives that were supposed to be in my possession to blow up the bank vault vanished during the time I was unconscious!"

"You're really trying to fool me like a little kid," Chen An rolled his eyes. "Modern bank vaults have modular concrete structures made with high-strength concrete and additives. Ordinary TNT explosives wouldn't even make a dent in them. I've collected data and made calculations. You'd need at least 'tons' of TNT to blow open a bank vault. And explosives measured in tons just disappear like that?"

"Kid..." Li Kui looked at the elementary school student helplessly. "You should consider yourself lucky that our country doesn't have a crime called 'your thoughts are dangerous.' Unfortunately, our leader doesn't even know common knowledge that an elementary school student like you does. He thought the two large suitcases he carried contained enough explosives to blow open the bank's vault."

"Uh..." A sense of foreboding began to fill Chen An's dantian. He tried his best not to think about it too much, but he couldn't help wondering—was there really a little elementary school student who could ambush a police officer and steal two large suitcases of TNT explosives? This sounded like a story from another world!

"There was only me originally, but if you want to join, then there will be two of us hiding like ghosts. I can't wait to see how the parents and the police will find us," Lu Li said with a hint of expectation on her face.

Although Chen An had tried to suppress it, the image of Lu Li still surfaced in his mind. He shook his head forcefully to get rid of these excessive thoughts.

Even Chen An, the system-designated Long Aotian, needed to unlock various abilities after turning thirty. And now, an elementary school student—a girl who feared getting dirty and sweaty while playing with boys—was supposed to have buried two crates of TNT explosives in every cram school? How could she know how to install and detonate them? It was just a child's innocent joke! That must be it...

Boom!!!

An ear-splitting explosion came from the nearby street. Li Kui instinctively lunged forward, pressing the fragile child beneath him. Chen An, knocked down by the burly man, stared in shock at the "Hua Long Cram School" not far away, engulfed in flames and smoke.

A blankness filled Chen An's brain as a bizarre thought emerged.

Isn't this game of hide and seek getting a bit too extreme?
