Chapter 21: God vs. God

Under a series of intense attacks governed by a sequence of village rules, Chen An quickly depleted his hand and the resources in his deck. Ultimately, relying on the fact that 'Cotton Candy' couldn't be destroyed by battle, he barely managed to block Lu Li's assaults and increase the number of turns.

But his situation didn't improve in the slightest.

Chen An glanced at his resources.

He had only three cards in his hand. Although one of them was the divine card 'Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode,' and the other was the revival card 'Monster Reborn' that could bring back divine cards, they were completely useless in this situation.

Three 'Cotton Candy' cards were set in Defense Position in his Monster Zone. The Spell and Trap Zone was covered by a set Trap Card, and 'Fluctuating Cannon' had accumulated 10,000 points of effect damage. At first glance, the damage was substantial. By activating the effect of 'Fluctuating Cannon,' he could deal 10,000 points of damage to Lu Li in one go. However...

Looking at Lu Li's field with three new 'Universe Crusader - Sky Hummingbird' cards, two 'Five-Emperor Dragon' cards, and her staggering 100,000 life points, Chen An's expression turned helpless. Lu Li kept lowering her own life points with 'Sky Hummingbird,' and now their life point gap had grown to 100,000. How could he win under these circumstances?

"That's how we'll play!"

Lu Li looked at her newly drawn card, her eyes lighting up. She picked up three 'Sky Hummingbird' cards and sent them to the graveyard.

"Offering three monsters as tributes! I Summon 'Giant Divine Soldier'!"

Seeing Lu Li summon a large monster to the field, Chen An inwardly cursed. As expected, Lu Li raised both hands, firmly holding onto two 'Five-Emperor Dragon' cards.

"I activate the effect of 'Giant Divine Soldier,' tributing two 'Five-Emperor Dragons' to increase its ATK to infinity! I also destroy your three 'Cotton Candy' cards on the field!"

In an instant, Lu Li's field was reduced to a single 'Giant Divine Soldier,' but its overwhelming ability to destroy all cards on the opponent's field had already been activated. If this proceeded as planned...

"I discard the monster from my hand - 'Effect Veiler'!"

Chen An showed Lu Li the effect monster in his hand. "According to the effect of 'Effect Veiler,' I can negate the effect of 'Giant Divine Soldier' that destroys all monsters on the field until the end of the turn!"

"Agh, there's a monster effect that can be activated from the hand?!"

Lu Li pouted in frustration. "But I think you shouldn't have another one in your hand. Next turn... End of turn!"

They had finally made it through, but there was no joy in it.

Chen An sighed and reached into his deck, preparing to draw his last card. There was no card in his deck that could turn the tide from this dire situation. He was essentially facing a losing game.

Although according to the rules, even if he lost, Lu Li would have to hand over the remote control, but for the next few days, he would have to accompany Lu Li to school every day, and on top of that, carry her schoolbag. That was quite painful.

As he absentmindedly drew a card, Chen An suddenly looked at the two cards he had just drawn using 'Pot of Greed.' He was a bit dazed. Amidst the intense back-and-forth of their offbeat interpretation and village rules, he had forgotten about these 'two cards.' After all, these two cards weren't originally in his hand; he had just received them from the mysterious older sister in the car. He never expected to draw them at this moment.

"These two cards aren't particularly powerful, and you might even say they're inexplicable cards that have no place even in casual decks. However, right now... I activate the Spell Card that I just drew from my hand, 'Yu-Jyo Friendship'!"

"'Yu-Jyo Friendship' Spell Card?"

Lu Li was taken aback. The name of this card sounded familiar, and she might have seen it when tearing open card packs, but she couldn't quite recall its effect. However, since it hadn't been included in her deck, it was probably a very weak card, so weak that she couldn't even be bothered to remember its effect.

Chen An, with deliberate emphasis, explained the effect of the card he had just drawn: "The first effect of this card allows you to invite your opponent to shake hands. After shaking hands, add your life points together, then divide them evenly!"

"Add life points and then divide them?" Lu Li paused. Her life points were 100,000, while Chen An's were 0. If they divided evenly, her life points would instantly decrease by 50,000, and Chen An's life points would increase by 50,000!

If it were just a matter of adding or subtracting life points, it wouldn't be a big deal, it really wouldn't be a big deal. After all, due to the effect of 'Soul Relay,' even if Chen An's life points increased to infinity, he would still lose due to 'Cotton Candy' leaving the field. So it really wouldn't be a big deal... or so she thought!

Lu Li looked at Chen An's somewhat dirty hand with a horrified expression. Uncontrollably, her mind conjured up the scene of the first time she had met Chen An, when he had introduced her to the card game!

Back then, he had shown off his strength, and the gust of wind generated by the slap could flip a fairly heavy card into the air and let it fall back down again.

Although Chen An claimed he wasn't a strength-focused duelist, that strength was real! If he wanted to use his terrifying brute force to forcefully destroy her hand, then she... this kind of physical damage would truly be considered a dark game!

"Of course, this card's effect is not mandatory. If you refuse, the activation of 'Yu-Jyo Friendship' will fail."

Chen An enunciated each word: "Will you refuse? My friendship?"

"I refuse!"

Lu Li replied without hesitation. Simultaneously, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief, realizing her hand wouldn't be destroyed.

"At the moment of your refusal, the second effect of 'Yu-Jyo Friendship' activates. It shows an opponent the Spell Card 'Unity' from your hand, which allows you to disregard the opponent's will and forcefully shake hands!"

Chen An placed 'Friendship' and 'Unity' side by side on the field, then extended his hand to Lu Li.

"Ugh..."

Lu Li's face turned pale. Trembling, she reached out her right hand to Chen An. Subsequently, her hand was lightly held and then released.

Also in that instant, Chen An's life points increased by 50,000, and Lu Li's life points plummeted.

"I activate the effect of 'Fluctuating Cannon,' sending it to the graveyard, dealing you another 10,000 points of damage! Then, by offering two 'Cotton Candy' cards and one 'Universe Crusader - Sky Hummingbird' card as tributes, I summon 'Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode'..."

Chen An placed the divine card onto the field, emphasizing each word: "The victory of this duel belongs to me. Do you have anything to say, like 'Sore wa dou kana'?"
