FYI, this album was really a change up in their sound from straight Brit pop, and is more experimental than what came before. The first album is ok, but they really hit their stride with Modern Life is Rubbish.

You should definitely check out parklife if you want more “Proper” songs. This album was a step away from britpop and their next album which you should also check out “13” was even crazier. Anyway great reaction!

Getting into Blur starting from their self-titled album can be difficult for new listeners. I recommend beginning with Modern Life Is Rubbish (my personal favourite Blur album), and then working through their discography in chronological order: Parklife, The Great Escape, and 13. Their Self Titled album and 13 are really experimental and will take a couple listens to really understand it.

Yeah this album is a weird one for sure.. While Beetlebum is arguably one of their very best songs, there are far too many instances of songs on this album that really don't do anything for me. Their debut album leisure has some decent songs on there (Sing is a personal favourite of mine). Blur really found their sound in their second album, Modern Life Is Rubbish where their britpop 'life trilogy' begins. I personally feel that although Leisure can be a bit of a drag on some songs, you should start there and work your way up.

Parklife next

Blur always one of the rare bands for me where their best of compilations are amazing yet whole albums are an absolute slog to get through

Sage is Typing...

Lowkey it’s kind of exciting knowing that I have no idea what to expect from them

Sage is Typing...

Yeah I started at a crazy spot lmao. Imma still check their other stuff out though!

Never listened to their albums looking forward to this. They are aggressively British.
