Revolver received critical acclaim when it came out and sold pretty well for a Beatles album at the time, but the Beatles were in the middle of a lot of controversy (you’ll learn about later). Sgt. Pepper came out a year later and was a smash hit and their biggest album since the peak of Beatlemania 3 years prior

Loving the stuff man. 2 recommendations for when ur ready to get into some more out there stuff (it’s not too weird) 1. Ants From Up There - Black Country, New Road It’s the best album of the 2020s and is highly critically acclaimed and is hauntingly beautiful. 2. Twin Fantasy (2018) - Car Seat Headrest My favourite album of all time - an indie rock concept album that is highly relatable and features amazing lyricism. Both voices would take some adjusting to but when they click it’s sensational

Tomorrow Never Knows could vaporize a small Victorian child frl that shit is WILD for the time

⭐ Also fun fact; Beatles started doing a lot more political and social satire. Taxman is a jab at the insane UK taxation in the 60s. And Dr Robert was a bit of a jab at their Dentist friend who infamously gave them LSD in a cup to drink out of, thus giving them their very first trip. Also a satire of Dr.Feelgood and such, the pill peddling doctors selling vitamins and bogus remedies. You'll see more of that social commentary in the future. She said She said is my favorite song but most people think it's just aight. But the vibes are immaculate. Loved your reaction. Legit laughed out loud at how much you vibed with Yellow Submarine I hate this damn song bruh 😭😭😭

Doctor robert is a song about their plug im pretty sure. This album is so unbelievably peak

Please Please Me came out in 1963, and this came out in 1966. From Love Me Do to Tomorrow Never Knows in about 3 years, with no precedent to follow for this type of music.

Eleanor Rigby was a major hit single in 1966. It spent 4 weeks at number 1 on the British charts (and Yellow Submarine was the B-Side). The Indian influence came via George Harrison, he got interested in Indian spirituality and sitar music around this time. Indian culture had a decent presence in the UK even back in the 60s due to it being a former colony of theirs. This album being the Kid A of its generation is kind of accurate but it’s even crazier than that. Imagine if Justin Bieber or One Direction spent 2-3 years putting out pop hits for teenage girls and then went into the studio and started dropping Radiohead albums, that's essentially what The Beatles career trajectory was. Revolver gets an A- average score Singer/composer performance: Paul McCartney is now leading the composer race with 8 songs in S, Lennon trailing right behind with 7 and Harrison still being stuck at 1. McCartney is also your favorite singer with 7 in S, Lennon has 5. George and Ringo are now tied with two S ranked performances thanks to Yellow Submarine. aw man i love she said she said, not sure what was confusing you in that one, its classic 60s jangle rock, massively influential to bands like the jam and stone roses ive always found from that 1 song, and your bird can sing probs my second fave and im only sleeping in 3rd, glad you loved that one. It's such a good melody, great album

Please do look further into the background of each song - (who wrote it/ who is singing). Each song often has its own story/ deeper meaning. Loving the stuff.

absolutely correct. Doctor Robert was their dentist and he put LSD in their tea and it was the first time they tripped. That is what the song is about. George Harrison talks about it in many interviews he also talks about it in the Anthology, he'll get to see that episode soon.

A few things, for the time it was release in the summer of 1966 it was highly critically acclaimed. The absolute height of Beatlemania, you'll learn about it in the Anthology because they talk about it but The Beatles were in the news a lot at that time for a lot of controversy and PR issues. This was also right before they stopped touring, they were doing stadium shows, the first band to ever to it and as alluded to earlier a high drug period for them with LSD and weed and alcohol etc. The Doctor Robert bit was about their dentist who put LSD in their tea without them knowing and it was their first trip, that is what that song was about. "Got To Get You Into My Life" was about weed. This is why I love music because everyone's taste is so different. Songs like "And Your Bird Can Sing" and "She Said She Said" are some of my favorites and you or anyone may not like them as much, I love that lol.

Also the next two singles that came out before Sgt. Pepper is Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane. I would suggest giving those a reaction as well prior to diving into the album, I'm sure other Beatles fans would agree. They are in the Sgt. Pepper Super Deluxe. Those songs were suppose to be on Sgt. Pepper but werent because singles weren't put on albums back in the day very much.

Esnupi

Those singles are included on Magical Mystery Tour so listening to them before would be a bit redundant when he gets to that album although I agree the mix is better on the deluxe

I’m so happy you enjoyed this album truly when they were at their peak!!! so diverse SO GOOD I LIVE FOR THESE REACTIONS LOL I went through the same process about a year and a half ago and it changed my life fr (beatles got me into oasis)

Ahhh wait the Indian influence make so much sense when you put it that way. Thanks for the ranking updates as well 🙏🏿

Sage is Typing...

Glad you're enjoying the videos! Yeah I'll see what I can find on some of the lore behind the songs as well

Sage is Typing...

ohhh ok awesome yeah I'll do my best to remember to check the singles out first! I agree though, I love hearing everyones take on the music and seeing how it differs from my thoughts haha

Sage is Typing...

ayeee thanks for watching the videos!! This has been a wild journey for sure

Samuel Rosén

I cant wait for you to react to the drums in strawberry fields forever

Keenan716

Also something that I forgot to mention the singles for Rubber Soul were Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out as well as Revolver singles were Paperback Writer and Rain. Great songs that deserve a reaction and I know they are on the Past Masters Vol 2 but the 2009 mixes are absolute trash. There are 2022 mixes available of all those songs I mentioned that should definitely be listened to over the 2009 mixes as they were severely outdated.

One of my unpopular Beatles opinions is that I Want to Tell You is my favorite Beatles song ever. Love those dissonant sounds. I understand when people are put off by them though. Revolver is a sonically fascinating album!
