as bonus you should definitely do the In Rainbows – From the Basement, litteraly a live recording of songs of this album and some of the past ones.

Danny Rockett

I get the first listen for bodysnatcher thing but know after a whole lot of listening its my favourite

I LOVE YOU SAND IS TYPING YOU DA GOAT

nbcardall

My experience as well. It used to be one I forgot about/skipped a lot but it's easily in my top 5 Radiohead songs now.

Serg

Nude is my favorite song

Ttgreeny

Hundo listen to disk 2

This is my favorite album of all time, so my tier ranking is biased😂 S tier: 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Nude, Weird Fishes, All I Need, Reckoner, House of Cards, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Videotape B Tier: Faust Arp. I never listen to it outside of the context of the full album but it's a fine enough song that to me works as an intermission between the first and second halves of the album.

5S out of 10 is crazy ! When you know Weird fishes is like one of Radiohead’s most like Song but yeah in a first listen I get it come back to it ! (Do side B plsssss)

Since you like Faust ARP, I'm even more curious to see your reaction to their songs on the AMSP album. This album, like its cover, gives off a positive aura, a warm atmosphere like summer. There are many beautiful songs on the In Rainbow album, but yes, I prefer their 'depressive' songs :)

I really loved this reaction, this was so much fun to watch. You might have had the strongest reaction and love to Faust Arp I’ve ever seen. For me personally it’s second from the bottom (House of Cards is also my least favourite but it lands at a B for me). But seeing your love of it and why has honestly made me appreciate it more. I will say House of Cards is drastically improved for me from In the Basement. The live performance of it is incredible. Also definitely listen to disc 2! It’s basically all the other songs the recorded while making the album that they felt didn’t fit the vibe. Thom had been on record as saying he knows the problem with Hail to the Thief was that it overly long and very scatterbrained, not unified. So this is very much a correction on this album that works masterfully. There is no fat on this album, it is a unified vision and a unified sound and it is pretty much perfect. But all those other great songs that didn’t quite fit have their place on disc two, which is increasingly fun. Also you loved Jigsaw Falling into Place! Jigsaw is honestly my favourite Radiohead song. Thom’s vocals and the building musical nature of the song along… and as you so perfectly put it, Radiohead in their sinister acoustic bag… along with the incredibly lyrics..: I honestly find the song addicting. I listen to it constantly. My top two Radiohead songs are Jigsaw and High and Dry

Also since before I’ve given the comments about *Radiohead fandom takes* I’ll do my best to leave what I’ve gathered about Radiohead fans opinions/rankings on this album. This one is tough admittedly because the general take is *In Rainbows is a masterpiece and we love it* by nearly all Radiohead fans. There is no divisiveness on this album. Just love. But the general takes I’ve picked up over years in the Radiohead fandom: Nude is the most beloved song on the album. The In the Basement performance of this song elevated it to a stratosphere and due that and just how great the song is, it’s often looked at as the best song on the album. The other S songs: Jigsaw (absolutely beloved high energy Radiohead song), All I Need (incredibly loved sad song and Radiohead fans love sad Thom), 15 Step (incredible classic opener), Weird Fishes (most Radiohead fan love this song as it is a classic grower) I would then say the A songs in the fandom tend to be: Bodysnatchers, Videotape (generally just because there are considered to be better album closers), Reckoner (lotta fans adore this song and it’s an S for them but I’ve seen enough dissent of some fans thinking it’s a weaker track that I’d say it falls in A tier for fans) Finally the B tier, as this is a beloved album I don’t think any fans tend to put anything below a B tier in their takes but it is Faust Arp and House of Cards. They just are the least talked about tracks on the album. These are just my general gleaning from my years in the Radiohead fandom I’m sure there are people with a better finger on the pulse than me though

you might already be aware but who sampled.com is great for finding out if the song you're listening to has been sampled by other people!

Love your reactions :) the "from the basement" session is well worth a watch. Watching them produce this live is something else.

Erorvik

weird fishes gets better at every listen. Its now my favorite by a mile

Paul M

Weird Fishes grows and grows and grows and grows on you. Didn't click with me at first, but now one of my favourite songs of all time, by anyone.

Fun fact: The pretty guitar line in Reckoner was Thom Yorkes attempt at replicating and paying homage to the guitar technique of John Frusciante from the Chili Peppers. Thom has also toured and recorded with their bass player Flea on one of his side projects called Atoms For Peace

Mike

Like everyone else is saying, please do From The Basement

David Coppinger

Amazing album, and they gave it away when it came out. They posted it online for download and you could just pay what you wanted or just download it for free. Definitely do a video reacting to the live in the basement version. But I also can't wait for the next 2 albums, some amazing tunes on those as well. King of limbs and moon shaped pool

Josh

House of cards is top 3 on this album for me, the guitar playing on Reckoner is inspired by John Frusciante’s guitar playing

Adam Keto

Like others are saying, now that you’ve heard the album, do yourself a favor and listen to the from the basement version on YouTube. It’s one of the best produced live recordings ever IMO.

Disk 2 is really good, i recommend listening to it.

Bro I've had Jigsaw falling into place on repeat since I've heard it haha

Toasty006

Fun fact, I got this album for a whopping 0 dollars, the band released in rainbows in a pay what you want model. The industry wasn’t too happy about it but they didn’t much care, they were just glad to be out of that contract with their old record label.

My opinion, and i think you're a great reviewer - or i wouldn't be here on Patreon. I just find Radiohead dull and non-melodic. FOR the most part, albeit - ironic of me to say my favorite song by them is the Pyramid Song. Other than the obvious classics (just, Creep, high an dry) i find it a tough listen. if I could relate Oasis to Radiohead i'd call 2+2=5 is the same as Oasis Headshrinker. And I love both tunes.

Sage is Typing...

That's totally fair, I definitely found myself a bit exhausted with the non-stop vibes of despair with the kid a era but I came around to it in the end haha

Callum

Great reaction as always, my favourites from this album is for sure Reckoner closely followed by Nude, but really every song is incredible and there is not much to bring this album down from perfection. I would recommend listening to Nude on the OKNOTOK cassette which you can find on YouTube, its an earlier version of the song which is also very good.

The lyrics toward the end of Bodysnatchers just kill me “Has the light gone out for you? Because the light's gone out for me It is the 21st century It is the 21st century It can follow you like a dog It brought me to my knees They got a skin and they put me in They got a skin and they put me in Oh, the lines wrapped 'round my face Oh, the lines wrapped 'round my face Are for anyone else to see Are for anyone else to see I'm a lie”
