I grew up the the UK during the 90’s and the Britpop era, but I just can’t go back to Blur (outside of a couple of good songs). Supergrass, Pulp and Suede are bands I can always go back to. (Although debatable whether the last two are Britpop at all). I hope you add the first three Supergrass albums to your list!

only two C, the world might be healing

Agathe Picart

lot of them just grew on me with more listen tbh. at first i was like "meh" and now those song are on my playlist and im vibing on them almost everyday ahahah

J

id love for him to react to Suede's debut album too

Quavers

I feel like some of the Britishisms are definitely lost on people not from the UK, especially in Parklife, which is 100% their most culturally iconic song in Britain. Great to see that you liked this album tho

David Coppinger

Love that you got into this is a low! Only one from this album that I still listen to after 30 years

Joe

Easily the best Blur album. Made to throw on in the car with the windows down on a sunny summer day.

Gerard McCartan

The Blur songs I love,i LOVE LOVE. But too many of Blurs songs just for me, sound like quirky cluttered messing about,in-studio fun songs, half-talking,half-singing, silly jokey fun. Then they drop a goat song like Girls and Boys. Of that time period, give me Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe, they aren't super original or anything but at least they have belter anthems laden on them! Great reaction mate as always!

Gerard McCartan

Or to throw out the window! Only joking 😜

Colin Jowett

You have to remember that albums at this time were made for tape, so the weird middle on MLIR and Parklife is side 1 ending and side 2 starting, they were just trying something different.

Uriko100

please do the 13 album by Blur. it is a real master peace

Charlie Wright

Great to see you enjoying Blur a bit more now! Think you'll love The Great Escape and 13 so hopefully you can do those 2 soon!

Glad that you enjoyed This Is A Low! Shame about other songs though.. I feel like you were very harsh towards 'To The End', 'Parklife' and even to some extent 'Clover Over Dover'. Parklife is an absolute anthem in the UK, and the other two are really beautiful songs which I don't really understand why they didn't hit for you so much.

Dylan PFC

Should give great escape a listen. Definitely got some of blurs best songs in there!

X-Offender

I knew for a fact you wouldn’t like Parklife the song. Too much British/Britpop-ish for your taste. Which is understandable.

Derek Dugan

That’s crazy! Haven’t seen that version
