The mixing of this album is the way it is because the band actually lost the high quality files of the album due to a hard drive failing. I actually think it adds to the album and gives it a much more unique feel. The lore of this album is pretty deep so there’s a lot of youtube documentaries going over everything

You heard HFS:40000 on stream a while back

I'm glad you enjoyed those last three songs so much. It's one of my favorite endings to any album. Also, this album does have some volume issues, but it's so much worse on Spotify for some reason. I have this on vinyl, and Telephony is legit twice as loud on there as it is on streaming.

Ever

Peak nihilism right here

A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut is a reference to A Quick One by The Who and probably to The Conqueror Worm, a poem by Edgar Allen Poe about a worm (representing death) devouring everyone. Bloodhail is about humans forming a staircase for the Hunter to reach God and kill him with his bow and arrow, like Jacob's Ladder in the bible. Then Hunter is written from the perspective of God as he's dying, inviting the humans to take parts of his body. It's a veeeery lore-heavy album, a lot of it elaborated on in a 70-page book. The Big Gloom is about suicide. The album's also in two parts, The Plow That Broke the Plains which ends with There Is No Food and then The Future.
