Hello!♥

After sharing a sketchbook flip through a few days ago, I realized I haven’t been sketching that much lately. Of course I had to make up for this!

Today I’ll be sharing a few pencil sketchbook spreads, a better look at some summer berries illustrations I shared on my IG stories and a subject of the first tutorial and this month’s theme will be announced!

Let’s start with the sketches, as always.

I found myself either “not having time” for “just” sketching or being a bit too... precious about sketching.

I mean, it’s fine to create clean, nice sketches but it shouldn’t be the point.

If you’ve been seeing my posts here regularly, you’re already familiar with my new favorite technique of making a blue sketch first.

I still like this technique and definitely going to be using it in the future but I had an urge to switch things up a bit!

So I started doodling.

I wanted to start off with something, anything, so when a picture of the boat popped up on my Pinterest feed, I immediately picked up a pencil.

Ironically, I was born and raised in a port city but I know almost nothing about boats and all the marine things.

Plus some ribbons, just for fun!

Speaking of doodles…

Here are some pen doodles from a few days ago.

No reference was used here, there was no sketch, no purpose of these doodles.

I was just drawing for fun.

Besides being a fun way to spend time, it was a great practice for hand steadiness!

Back to the pencil sketches!

Lemons and leaves.

I was just playing with different shapes here.

I really want to create a sticker sheet with quite simple yet decorative leaves/branches designs. These are some initial potential ideas!

Practicing drawing lemon leaves! and other leaves too.

Initially it supposed to be a practice of drawing just lemon leaves but then I wanted to practice drawing leaves from different perspective.

The twists and perspective became more important than the shape of the leaf.

Another spread!

and the last one (for now!:D)

This is also kind of a preview/announcement of the FIRST REAL TUTORIAL that’s coming this month!

At first I wanted to make a tutorial about using green and choosing right colors, as I got some requests about it.

But… what if I show you how to draw leaves and then make a video about green colors (and maybe coloring leaves in general)?!

So yeah, I’m practicing to be able to properly explain how to draw leaves!

I think you can learn a lot just by studying these sketches, but if you want a more guided tutorial, I’m happy to announce that it’ll be up later this month!!

I haven’t started recording yet but at least I get to practice drawing a lot.

Uff, there will be more of these! I want this tutorial to be good!!

Now, if you’re following me on IG, you might already saw these illustrations, but here are the better look at them:

and… July’s theme!

LEMONS

Of course these are just some unfihisned doodles (but some have potential to become stickers???!) but I’m ready to draw tons of lemons this month!

Some months I have to brainstorm to come up with a theme, but this month I just knew, it has to be lemons!

PS. Don’t worry, June’s digital rewards are coming really soon!

PS2. If you have any feedback on this upcoming tutorial, I’m all ears!

Are you ready for a big dose of freshness, yellow and summer vibes in general?!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing these quite random doodles, my practice sketches and today's announcements!

Love,

Marta

I’m happy to hear that! I’ve been thinking of maybe splitting this tutorial to a few shorter videos, as it’s quite complex topic. The first video could be just about understanding the structure of a leaf, drawing it from different angles, with different folds and twists, using just a pencil. Then I could make a video about coloring - how to pick green colors and know where and when use them, how to shade. I can also create a section about drawing different shapes/types of leaves and stylizing them. Hmm! Ahh, so many options and so much to think about! Yayy! Let’s draw tons of lemons this summer! :D
