I have a hard time getting people to watch 30-60 minute videos, but getting some of the most salient points across in a shorter vid, would make it much easier.

Joseph Richmond

Honestly those snippets could be best untitled for the Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson video

Logan Barr

Its easier to share impactful things that can help portray the point that can be conveyed

DJ Tommy Pizza

I hate the content, but love the convenience :/

h2g2guy

For that particular video, it was very useful and effective. I wouldn't say you should go about releasing a lot of clips from a lot of different episodes, but if a portion of another episode in the future stands alone well, then sure, go for it.

Coal Cooper

It’s probably better if it’s done sparingly, specifically for snippets that people are asking for.

Delaney Jade

Yeah, it makes sharing your work way easier, too many people have no attention span

Geoff Stuart

I love the ability to find it more easily. I have a slight concern that if they're less viewed than your other videos, them might hurt you in the eyes of the almighty algorithm. You could always just add timestamps as a compromise.

Jax Uzpen

Generally I hate when shows are cut up into YouTube clips cause it's so hard to keep together. The police riots montage was super important to be able to link to by itself because it is video evidence for our less reality-based family because we don't think wed be able to get them to watch all the way through. So maybe a case by case basis.

calzoniemalonie

I really liked that you separately uploaded the montage, because while I've been recommending the entire video a lot, most of those people probably won't watch the whole hour long video for whatever reason, so having that clip for me to say "just watch this then, it's super important and only a few minutes" is really nice.

Derek Lewis

I need more of your long-form pieces. I feel as though cutting them up and putting them out alongside the actual video would cheapen the whole thing. You don't have many videos that are long enough to warrant it, anyway. Only my opinion. This week's pig riot clip was a blisteringly stark and important exception. Maybe a different channel for clips? Or juicy clips from the podcast? Not to type-cast your work or anything, but nobody's sharing just clips of Last Week Tonight. Also, we love you cutie pies. I just wanna squish you and squish you and cuddle your cute hekking fuck brains out fuck.

Xuxa

While I personally think your content deserves to be savored and watched repeatedly to appreciate all the details of the research; some times clips can be nice for sharing for those less devoted than I to your extremely well produced content. Totally agree on case by case decision making.

Karatekidrok

I think the whole vid was expert, but being able to send a piece to friends who are unfamiliar with your work is super helpful in spreading, for a lack of a better term, the "good word". Unfortunately, digestible segments are sometimes the only way to get people to watch the larger picture. This said, I may agree w/ @Darek Lewis. Maybe make a separate channel for the small stuff.

Jeremy Hicks

I'm really glad you posted this because I wanted to share that part. There have been some other occasions where I felt that way, but not every week. My biggest worry is that you'll be thinking about that when you're writing and subconsciously it will change what you try to do in order to make sure you've got a tight five that's shareable. So long as it's something that comes organically out of the main video, no worries.

Harrison Engstrom

Hell yeah - it makes it so much easier to share with friends and family. It's been great watching more and more people get to watch Cody's Showdy!

dduncombe

I really appreciated it. I've used it a lot to send to friends and family who are telling me some 'bad apples' fuck'ry. Of course you know if they're saying that shit they probably won't sit through an hour.

Pile of Hedrons

I'm sorry to give you more work but yes please to this. Sometimes I try to show stuff to my far right brother, if I could just pull up a relatively bite sized piece of super-important-point-being-made then it might be easier to get him to absorb it. I recently showed him part of Hasan Minhaj's patriot act, fast forwarded to the eleven minute mark to show him "the important part" that I didn't think he'd wait eleven minutes to get to.

Jacob K

I like it, but I've heard doing that kind of thing can cause problems with the algorithm. Might be worth looking into to make sure it isn't hurting your outreach if you haven't already

James Dominguez

I'm not going to vote, since I don't have a strong opinion. I'd say it's a good idea sometimes (as in the recent video) but I wouldn't want to see it all the time.

P1GP3NZ

Whatever makes it easier to spread word of the Boar menace.

Joseph Dugan

I devour every episode but my partner, also a fan, is a bit hesitant to commit to 60 minutes on Ben Shapiro etc. Assuming she's not alone, shorter clips are probably a good idea.

Fel Martins

I don't care but I do think this would help you gain more attention. I love the 30-60 minute episodes but other people might be a bit hesitant to commit that amount of time. With some clips edited from episodes, they can take a gander at those and, if they like it, watch the full episodes.

Ally

Really, that montage was the first time it occurred to me to have the shorter item. I like the coherency of the long form, but if something like that pops up again, it’d be good to have the smaller item again.

KalliJ

I really appreciate the sacrifices you guys make, watching the horrible things people do to one another, in order to get the truth out there, so I feel I should honor your work by watching all of it. But I just can't. My mind just shuts down. So I voted for excerpted segments, because I can get through 10 minutes when I can't get through 60. Even though it creates even MORE work. I'm sorry to be so selfishly attached to my own mental well-being at the expense of yours.

Bex Richards

It's a nay for me but only from a personal point of view because I think a new video has come up and it isn't - I do think they're easier to share for some people but I personally don't share the smaller videos, only the longer ones. I just know more people who engage with longform content.

Harry Moore

Not really, but it's also pretty harmless.

gijoes

I guess I don't care, as long as you leave the original video posted with the shorter sections still in it.

Chris Bowers

I think that for people of the more moderate persuasion the whole show can be, though I like it that way, a bit more inflammatory and vulgar than one would send to their moderate aunt, what with her pearl-clutching about looting a Target. What made the montage of police brutality effective is that it is literally just the evidence, without the critical and contextual work that we like about Cody's Showdy but other, more moderate and conservative sympathizers would dismiss out of hand. The shorter cuts from the show that are essentially primary sources on reality itself not mangled by Fox or CNN are more shareable, thus, more useful for passing to family and friends who we all, yah know, fundamentally disagree with but don't want to be openly hostile towards.

ARFDog

Full DIsclosure: I didn' t you even did this. But, I don't think it's a bad thing. It's nice bringing attention to a larger issue and not having to have a viewer consume 30-40+ minutes of a video, when a major point may have only been 5 minutes. I always watch the full shows, but if there is something big I want to share, I'll make an effort to see if a clip has been made.

John Hall

As others have said, I personally don't need shorter videos so *I* do not specifically enjoy it. However, the wider audience needs some Quibi's (despite the enormous success of that platform).

Avi Baron

I'm indifferent to the shorter clips myself, but I think it can help you get more "viewers/listeners."

some dingus

I think generally most of ya'll's videos are fully cohesive and don't lend themselves to small snippets. However, when there are good snippets I fully support them getting separated to create something more "shareable." Or, y'know, horrifying and depressing like the violence supercut which definitely didn't lead me to cry at work, nope no way.

Merlin -they- Stardust

Yes, solely for sharability. I love the long form content but the length is a deterrent for watching it if I use it in an argument.

Merlin -they- Stardust

Alternatively, it would be good to see a topic index by timestamp in the video description. That would also make it easy to share if I can just click "5:38 - fascism in police, 6 minute segment".

PRN

most of the news comedy/late show type shows do the bite sized stuff of the best bits. I think someone casually sees something and thinks it's funny/thought provoking they'll probably check out the full shows.

Robert Schuneman

I think it's a great idea for you to post some of the smaller segments. Oftentimes, people will pass on viewing a video due to the length of the video. Shorter clips could be the Cody Showdy gateway...

Jeff Prillaman

The Showdy exhibits good judgement in regards to what to clip and when. Useful for sharing.

Andrew Diaz

I do like the idea. It was a great execution with the police brutality section. That said, don't burn yourselves out on clipping out snippets. YouTube allows videos to be shared at specific segments, so if I wanted to show someone a specific segment I could send them the full video with that point marked as the start point. Do as you see fit.

Merlin -they- Stardust

Another thought I had would be for the title of the shorter video to include "segment from Other Video Name" in it. Not sure if that would be good for SEO and algorithms and stuff though

Joooooooood

I like it because I can not easily force you upon others afraid of longer videos

Rathius

It’s already been said up top, but the videos are fantastic as complete works. That being said, snippets seem to get more viewers over time and will help to elevate your voice and the voices you are elevating.

Edward Young Jr

I'm in the middle. It got my hopes up seeing a new notification you so soon only to see it was a clip. It is OK if you clip from the main show you should have a "Clip:", or "Quibi:" in front of the title.

Jason Thorpe

I like the long form videos, but specific segments, or as someone else mentioned, time stamps in the description are better for sharing.

Gumby with a sombrero

I like clips as long as they are clearly labeled as clips and have a link back to the long video. But clips are better for sharing than timestamps, because people immediately know how long they can expect it to last. even with timestamp, I feel like people don't look at shared videos if they seem long

Richard M Campbell

One of my favourite channels, hence why I subscribe. Always scan back, rewatch and share the full shows cause they're so damn good! God only knows why Charlie gets so excited but I like it! My favourite youtubers are generally long-form video-essayists with interesting ideas and engaging aesthetics. An incomplete list would include hbomberguy, contrapoints, big joel, folding ideas, maggie mae fish, lindsey ellis, and many others.

Beard McGowan

This clip (the police uber-montage) helped me illustrate to some friends over the ocean what is happening here in the USA, so, yeah, would say it is pretty darn useful.

Michael Okeefe

I do like that i love the show! Its my favorite thing to watch. But when i want to share something to try to get through to hard headed hard headed alternate fact...ers its easier for them to watch and get it. Like the systematic racism one was amazing but sharing just the mario race clip will get more people that dont get it to watch it through and maybe have something click vs watching 30mins and then that. I think it makes it more digestible for the people that need to hear those kinds of things the most
