It's weird to laugh and be angry at the same time, thanks for all your hard work guys.

I really wanted those deal with it glasses to persist without comment for the rest of the entire episode

Another fantastic video, SMN! I laughed, I cried, I remembered that time is a never ending shadow in our wake. Overall, great video in keeping a level headed realization that all generations leave footsteps on the earth. I think it's easy to harbor resentment of who came before us but turning it into proper motivation to do something positive is not only good for us: it's an outright necessity for the planets sake as well as our own.

"Generations. No not the Star Trek film!!" ... I want Cody to talk about Star Trek: Generations. I'd watch a video where Cody talked about all the Star Trek films.

very old joke: grandparents and grandchildren get along so well because of the shared enemy between them.

Great vid, but to comment on the weakest argument, the existence of the gig economy is a direct result of economic decisions made by the previous generation. If Reagen-era economics was caused by a bad economy created by the greatest generation, the comparison would be more app (lol). As it stands, you're basically saying that "both generations are bad, the boomers ruined the economy, and the millennials have made things harder for gen-z because the boomers ruined the economy". We can't say for sure if, given the same advantages and social safety net the boomers had, if the gig economy would be as bad for gen-z. Or even if the gig economy would exist.

I'm from Generation Jones. WTF this all about?

Really felt like Cody didn’t have to do much acting in this one 😅 feels like he’s much more fiery, I love it!

Taylor "Armac" Quenneville

Oof, that lack-of-ad really hurts after all the reminders that I shouldn't have spent money on it 😅

Gen Z keeps shooting me in the face and roasting me mercilessly as I slowly bleed out, we must return to the simpler days of teabagging corpses

Ah yes, single focus market share obsession... Rampant uncontrolled growth for growth's sake without any regard for the overall health of the system or its parts is literally the underlying thesis of cancer.

So here’s my take on Maher and his Kylie/Greta bit: He’s not entirely wrong that Kylie represents the millennial/zoomer (MZ) generation. I would think a more appropriate statement is that Kylie is the avatar that MZ try to live vicariously through. For better or worse, my impression is that Kylie is a form of escapism from the capitalism that us plebs struggle against (and the capitalism that Kylie benefits from). Kylie is our collective Sim with the Motherlode cheat x400. Perhaps we look at Kylie and try to reverse engineer our own lives to match, thinking that if we mimic Kylie, we can be like Kylie, and live like Kylie, and not think about all the issues Cody just spent 45 minutes cataloguing earlier in the episode. Maher had me in the first half. Not gonna lie. But then he did some Joe Rogan research I guess. I would think a better hot take for Maher to make is that Kylie, while appropriating what makes her appear relatable, is a performer. She performs being relatable to her followers. She performs the idea that “celebrities are just like us!” Ironically, I think she represents Bill Maher more accurately than millennials or zoomers. Kylie follows the money. Kylie does what’s profitable, much like faking outrage at AOC for the met gala dress and then agreeing with her by the end of his whinging. Kylie, like Bill Maher, performs a bit for followers or viewers, and doesn’t bring anything substantial to the table. Maher’s hot takes aren’t constructive; they’re derogatory. His “willingness” to entertain the GOP despite being a self-proclaimed liberal doesn’t emphasize the need for compassion for those who don’t share our views. Maher does what earns him ratings. He’s the embodiment of those stupid clickbait articles about how millennials ruined all the industries. He exists for ratings, because ratings mean money. Kylie Jenner is no different. Kylie Jenner performs the role of being a relatable rich girl, without any idea (as far as I can see) of what her followers actually go through. Her lip shades aren’t new; vegan beauty isn’t new; skincare lines aren’t new. They’re a revenue stream. She’s, at best, ignorant of the struggles outside her rich bubble. At worst, she doesn’t care (not unlike Maher). She has no reason to care, until the poors stop giving her money, and then she will adapt just enough to entice them back in. Kylie (and the rest of the Kardashian/Jenners) should be called out for pretending to be a family of relatable rich folks, who own $73M climate hate-fucking private jets rather than be infected with poor people cooties on commercial airlines. Maher should ask what Kylie does to offset her massive carbon footprint with fast fashion and private jets so the poors don’t show up at her doorstep because her doorstep is now at fucken sea level. Greta ought to be signal-boosted by Maher as someone who gives a shit about other people; if he’s disgusted by the fact that he thinks Kyle represents the MZ’s, wouldn’t a more constructive solution be to give Greta more bandwidth to tout her “radical” agenda of trying engage people in the fight against climate change, rather than this shitty and confusing comparison with Kylie? If Maher finds the idea of Kylie representing MZ’s reprehensible, why not use that comparison to emphasize the areas Kylie falls short, and how she can improve. If Maher likes the idea of Greta as the conscience for the MZ generation, I would think he could use that entire segment to agree with her sentiments and provide links/resources for how viewers can get involved, which may actually boost Greta’s IG follower count more. Just a thought.

Maher's purpose in life is to confect $$-generating content indefinitely, whichever way the winds blow, so he can have an income "critiquing" culture. So he has no beliefs, the point is simply to get clicks, views, ratings, dollars. Like Mitt Romney, Andrew Sullivan, James Corden, Kellyanne Conway, or any number of media skanks, there are people we shouldn't listen to merely because they are in the "entertainment economy" actually providing negative value on any measure of value; cultural, economic, political or social. Barnums with no vision. Air-horns without a cause. If you're mad at Musk or Bezos for actually stealing our incomes, and they have, you should be at least annoyed at these media opportunists for wasting your time (which equals $$, right?). Don't give them another cent of your time.
