And here I was just now, scrolling through youtube for something to watch.

I shouldn't have to say this, but thanks for bleeping out all the shooters' names. When most major news outlets publish it in a headline at least once, it's honestly refreshing not having to worry hearing it from you.

There’s an important distinction between a mental health disorder and a neurological disability. For example, I wouldn’t put autism in the “mental health” bucket nor would I describe an autistic person (such as myself) as mentally ill. (Quite frankly, I wouldn’t describe anyone as mentally ill, given the inherent stigma of that label, but that’s beside the point.)

Hi guys, love ya and everything you do. Just my two cents (pulling Former Social Worker Card here) you might want to be careful about using words like , "evil," to describe human actions, motivations, etc. If someone doesn't want your words to resonate in an impacful way, they may cling to words like that to tell themselves the behavior of concern is outside of human reach, and thus, nothing can be done.

I would point to the work of journalist Johann Hari and physician Gabor Maté, among others. Maté's most recent book "The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture", and Johann Hari's "Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression - and the Unexpected Solutions" as possible starting points.  (I suspect the SMN crew is already aware of these lol. secret is safe with me?) I appreciate the approach to the subject; given the current systems and societal construct in which we currently live. Incremental changes and revelations are easier for the masses to swallow, spoonful of sugar (or high fructose corn syrup as it were) are easier to consume. I will say that the Incremental changes and small doses of objective reality are not going to make the changes within the zeitgeist of the society fast enough. People are dying now, people are suffering now. Society is slipping back into something horrible now. I know the people that follow this program,  and especially those that contribute to the patreon appreciate all the work yall do, but I've  known too  many people that are no longer amoung the living that would protest about the softball approach to this very real and very important problem.

An excellent video! One of your best.

A town named sadness being the birthplace of mental health reform is kind of darkly funny.

Much appreciation from someone on the spectrum

Man, these daily wire jerks really love to hate on all healthcare - mental or otherwise and everything is a conspiracy. I just watched a "Mama Dr. Jones" video where she responded to a Candace Owens video in which CO was basically complaining about receiving a lot of attention in labor and delivery and claimed it was so the hospital could charge more. Yet these same folks are against national healthcare. I despise them.

Dunno why I'm sharing, but I'm a licensed MFT. I'm open to chat about stuff and mental health and junk

Also this was a really great segment, thanks for making it!

I applaud the channel's and Cody's willingness to include gays, roomba-fuckers, and haircut-consumers (is that what they go by?) in the description of who benefits. But seriously there was a line that I'd like to draw out. "Not just people who need mental health care, but everybody".... One way we get to that shift in awareness is to simply see those two as the same thing. If anyone can have mental health issues, and need care, then the venn diagram of those is just a circle. Everyone. Our culture could include everyone in our communities as needing mental health consideration, care and assistance in the same way we all need social interaction or medical assistance. De-stigmatizing mental health care alone would benefit everyone in society, it should be clear.

Oh we know you fuck Cody, we know.
