I think when Cobel got unnerved by the driver and left, it was because she feared she was about to get killed because of whatever leverage she has on Lumon. She and Helena were just exchanging threats. Cobel said "You didn't have a choice" and Helena responded "Are you sure?" implying they could just take her out.

makondan

Ugh those paintings are so f*cked up

lumon put blackface on kier eagan. it’s weird af and natalie thinks so, too. the old-timey photo of dylan’s family is a common souvenir from disney type parks or attractions that include wild west or pioneer elements. they have costumes and props so ppl can dress up as ranchers, saloon workers, sheriffs, etc. the guy w helena is probably both chauffeur and bodyguard. we saw a control room view of the outie family visitation suite when ms. huang spoke to gretchen and dylan, so there are still cameras and there’s a security room somewhere else. 499 half loop rd - big numbers in US addresses are broken up, so 499 is said four ninety-nine. 3071 is thirty seventy-one. the white house (1600 pennsylvania ave) is sixteen hundred, still shorter than normal. “dexter’s laboratory” is awesome! edited to ask: speaking of cartoons, did you see what was happening w “danger mouse” on the TV in dylan’s house?

ngl there's a lot of things that I like in the show but the goats were always a bit too whacky for me so I didn't really enjoy having them come back in this episode- always love seeing Gwendoline Christie though!

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I think you guys did kinda work it out in the outro but the reason they asked to see their stomachs was to check for pouches. In season 1 Burt told Irv and Dylan that MDR were rumoured to have pouches, like marsupials have for carrying young. It definitely implies that Lumon are trying to keep the departments divided through fear

Shanti (cuchupacu)

we can only assume mammalians nurtutable has a locker room w showers. it would be really weird for outies to go into work at an office building and come out later smelling of livestock and manure!

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Imagine it was mandatory to shower and wash your hair at the end of every workday- my poor hair would not survive

IrishYankee

First watch as well with you guys... I just noticed through 3 episodes, the ending credits in season 1 were black screen with white font and the opposite so far in season 2, white background and black font.

Shanti (cuchupacu)

i couldn’t handle it! you can actually tell gwendoline christie’s character does her makeup for a “normal” job. 😂

sarina

The blackface paintings are so gross. It feels like a cult tactic to try and make Milchick feel “seen” but it fell so flat, and Natalie looked like she felt the same way. Small edit- I’m so excited for you guys to see the next episode!

Ambrosia

you guys asked about the "husbandry tank" mentioned during the episode - Animal Husbandry is stuff like cattle and dairy farming, fish farming, beekeeping, stuff like that. If the Severed universe follows that same definition, I would assume maybe they have Ms. Casey in those tanks to calm down the animals in there? Or maybe the workers handling the animals?

MB

oh boy am I excited for the next one!

Demanda

So yeah now that we’ve come to this episode I can finally say: I think these are the people who “live” at Lumon that Petey has seen houses for. When we saw the guy with the baby goat last season he was clean and neatly groomed, and now he’s filthy with overgrown hair. I think these workers are sort of like fly-ins who work on oil tankers for weeks on and then go home for weeks off, and that they live at Lumon for long periods of time between furloughs. I can’t put my finger on why outside of the grooming discrepancies, but it feels like these are the workers who “don’t leave”.

Susen

I was excited for you to see Gwendoline Christie - that whole department has such a Twilight Zone vibe. Creepy!

Susen

Edited - because you kind of got there in the outro - The photo is a VERY common souvenir here in the states- at tourist attractions or theme parks they'll have costumes and props and you dress up like the old west. I saw similar set ups in London, but the costumes are Victorian era instead of "old west". I don't think it was an attempt to fool the innie, I just thought that it happened to be the picture that she brought that had them together as a family, and the innie doesn't have the knowledge that these photos exist so he was confused why they were dressed like that. But it was just a bit of humor.

Don Della DonDon

That chair in Milchick’s office looks amazingly comfortable

Don Della DonDon

Every one of the goat workers looks 300 years out of place

Why do I get the feeling that the Board is stationed on another planet

Julie A

You thought *this* episode was weird? Buckle up!

Julie A

Remember the one time you heard someone from the board say “Yes” on the speaker when Cobel asked if they were even there? I was a little sad that before that scene you didn’t theorize that the board was comprised of goats! That was a running theory. 😂😂😂

Charl de Villiers

Tramell Tillman's acting as Seth Milchick is so amazing. His micro expressions, giving away just the smallest of emotions showing us just a glimpse of how he actually feels

Sheri

Same. This is only the third weirdest episode this season!

Shanti (cuchupacu)

i commented elsewhere that the ppl who work in MN must shower before going home. most of them look pretty scruffy, but they’re wearing button-down shirts and ties. gwendoline christie’s character has to leave because her outie puts on makeup better suited for office work. her hair also looks nicer than most of the others’.

Demanda

I think everyone else already explained it, but specifically all Lumon did was take existing paintings of Kier and give him blackface. It wasn’t them inserting a new character into history to represent an ancestor of Milchick.

CK

I was screaming when I first saw this with my family "Noooo, no, no, no, they wouldn't" and seconds later "Oh my, they did."

TLC

I'm fascinated by the dialog used...I have said before Cobel knows more and asked why is she obsessed with the Severed floor and the belief in re-integration. What if the severance process was her creation and she does not want to give it up? In the end of the episode Helly's outie said something about them needing a reset...did she mean resetting Cobel the way they "reset" Gemma? The driver is also on my mind... did she recognize him or was it she was suddenly afraid of the question Helena asked... "is it?" I have no clue about the goats or the goat people 🤣🐐🐐🐐 the only thing I can think of is testing the severance process on animals but it seems this kind of testing would be done on animals more similar to humans. The only other thing related to goats in my mind is their tradition use in history for animal sacrifice. This would match up with the religious cult nature of Lumon. This is what this show does to my thinking 🤣🤣🤣

TiMthisIS

I own the same white Cobel car. It's just that most of those Volkswagen Rabbits in the US were diesels and so is mine. Hers is a little automatic gas version.

Sarah_M

Cult shenanigans aside, the amount of additional compensation I would need to be OK with washing my long hair *every day*. Although I suppose that's my Innie's problem, so whatever guess... actually this might be the thing that could talk me into a severed job nlg. 😂

Weird Magic

This is assuming they ever leave - apparently Gemma never does

Jackson Potluck

This made me think "buckle up fucklehead" which then made me realize the gents need to do Succession.
