Jordan Wiegand

So glad it’s time for you to start Lost. Here’s a couple of fun facts. This show was originally conceived by ABC’s president Lloyd Braun. He wanted a Castaway/Survivor type show on the network. At the time of the show was produced it was the most expensive network tv pilot (10-14 million dollars) when most pilots cost about 5 million back then. Ultimately, Lloyd Braun got fired because of low ratings on ABC and the fact he commissioned a very expensive pilot. The joke was on ABC though as it became the biggest hit of the 2004-2005 season. I still remember seeing the previews for the show on tv and being interested due to Dominic Monaghan has a big LOTR fan.

Weird Magic

I dislike you very much for beating me to posting any of this information :) LOL

Jordan Wiegand

Haha I had this locked and loaded for the drop

Weird Magic

This episode aired September 22, 2004....if you could find a way to get it to post to YT on that day, the Losties will LOVE you

RA

Letssss gooooo !!!!

Kab

Holy moly, holy moly. I'm soo excited to see your reactions!

Jimmy K

I can't wait hope you boys bought new notebooks because you'll need them!!

Hefty517

The entirety of the series (other than one scene) was shot in Hawaii. While in-show Jack’s tattoo may well probably refer to the 5 seconds story, it is an actual tattoo that the actor, Matthew Fox, has, that he got with his co-stars on the show Party of Five.

Weird Magic

I took the Lost tour in April 2024...visited a lot of the filming sites, including the beach where the plane crashed, which has severely eroded over the last 20 years. My avatar here is from that trip.

Linda Cannarsa

The guys’ theories will be so much fun to hear

Hefty517

That’s so awesome! I did it back in 2010, lol…took myself a couple souvenirs from the beach camp 🤫

Linda Cannarsa

I attended the Lost 2014 convention on Oahu (10 year anniversary of the pilot airing). It was an incredible experience and a highlight of my life!

Hefty517

Very jealous!

Chris

I’m pretty m’eh about Lost, especially compared to a lot of people… but even I can’t deny that holy cow is it an all-time banger of a pilot episode.

Kab

You recognized the Blitz! That How I Met Your Mother episode had quite some Lost references

Weird Magic

I've posted this info in other reactors' comments. If anybody thinks it's too much or I should not do it here, please LMK Originally airing on September 22, 2004, "Pilot: Part 1" is Episode 1 of Season 1 of LOST. It is the 1st episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 9.1, placing it as the #2 ranked episode of this season and #1 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Kristin Carter

Your reaction/discussion is EVERYTHING I wanted, now I just need you to binge watch and post the whole rest of the series, lmao!

Kristin Carter

Now that you guys finished the episode, its safe to say that the title "Pilot" probably has a double meaning. Did you recognize Charlie as Merry the hobbit from Lord of the Rings? I didn't hear y'all mention it if so! Also, the names/characters are a little difficult to keep straight at first with such a large ensemble cast, you might have to add little pictures into your notebooks lol!!

DN Reacts

They were lost on us at the time 😂

QuasiRNG

wow you guys didn't recognize Charlie (LOTR) or Kate (Hobbit) 🤯

QuasiRNG

forgot about Damo's flying phobia.. some tough scenes to get through there!

Jordan Wiegand

I forgot to mention too, that they intentionally do not show a lot of red in the episode until they pull the man out from under the plane part and you see his blood on his legs to make that scene have more impact.

mombul

Omgggg I wasn't expecting this, this is awesome I'm so glad! One of my favorite shows!

Daniel Holzschuh

Get your notebooks ready boys, can’t wait to watch this again with you fellas P.S. there will be plenty about jacks tattoos 🤣

immapotat

i was not ready for this to drop today LOL, im so excited Lost is 100% my favorite live action drama show. enjoy all the cool fun facts about this episode too! (Michael Giacchino did the music for the entire show i believe. if u look him up you’ll recognize a lot of his movies. masterpieces in this show)

Meryl Lim

I've only watched Lost once, so I'm looking forward to a rewatch with you guys. Can't wait for all your theories!

Kaisa

funny how i don't remember anything from this show... good to follow along and finally get to the end also eventually

Dave

Great info!

IrishYankee

Ex air traffic controller here.... In the middle of the ocean there is no radar coverage. So you have the pilot check in at 'waypoints' in the sky, basically radio beams that intersect and they can dial them up follow a path (via radio beams) and know when they are there, then they get directed to check in at the next waypoint and so forth till you hand off coverage to Europe (or next ATC Center)... So without comms, they and the controllers are effed over the ocean.

Reagan

I've tried watching this show once before and quit at episode 3 when my father passed away in June 2024, so I'm very excited to watch this for the first time with you guys💕

RA

Guys, I have been a silent follower. But all I want to say is that it has been a year since I lost my parents in an accident. Not to bring the mood down , but they were not that old - but I started this journey with you guys on YT with The Office and you guys are one of the most genuine reactors and pretty smart at times (many a times I have been how did they know this - it took me end of season lol) - and also lill dumb sometimes :) But thanks for the distraction and I am pretty sure you guys would love this show. Tip - Just enjoy the characters. Lots of love !!

David Suggs

Go back and rewatch that episode of HIMYM after season 2 (I think)

Meredith Lombardi

What is crazy about this show is that it does have so many mysteries and theories, but it came out in 2004, which was before streaming, before smart phones, before Facebook, before Youtube. So the fan theories were mainly relegated to chat rooms or message boards. Rewatching it and being able to properly discuss it is why I am excited, and probably others too.

Tobias Keezy

I just want to say that this is the perfect show for you both to watch and you guys are the perfect watchers for this show. I’m so excited to see this great series again! You all, everybody! We have to go back! Live together, die alone! Don’t tell me what I can’t do! There’s no place like home! See you in another life, brother!

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

Prison Break was one of my favourite shows at the time as well :) But when you finish this season you should go back and see how dated it feels in comparison to LOST 🤣 This show is still so gorgeous 22 years later! Raised the bar of what we expect from TV- Like GoT it's generation defining

Sarah_M

💜💜💜💜

Erin’s Cafe

With six seasons and 121 episodes, please tell me you’re watching more than two a week. Please?

Imthecatman

Lloyd Braun...from Seinfeld? Lol

Jordan Wiegand

Yes bonus fun fact, the character from Seinfeld was named after this Lloyd Braun

Weird Magic

According to the Lostpedia site, there are 101 references to Lost from within other TV shows. They include Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Rec, How I Met Your Mother, and both of your upcoming sitcoms, The Good Place and Community.

Kab

Nice.

Olivia McGowan

yes!! definitely go in with detective head on 😂

Olivia McGowan

Damo I feel your pain so so hard, my heart pounds out my chest every single time I watch the plane scenes. Absolute worst nightmare 😫

Shanti (cuchupacu)

i started watching this when it first aired but was working nights and let it go. when the episode started i had the same reaction i did 22 years ago because of PoF: “charlie!” of course, since there’s another charlie, i have to get used to him being jack all over again.

TLC

Oceanic Flight 815! Let the fun begin! 122 episodes, 6 seasons. 2004-2010. Jack sent Boone after the pens just to get rid of him and give him something to do. The theories have already begun and yes you are going to have thousands of questions and that's only after 42 minutes...so much more to come!

Omar Reeves

Y’all smart 😂 🤷🏾‍♂️ guess I’m early access for another year

Omar Reeves

Ohhhhhh that’s perfect for yall. This is a perfect take notes show 👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾

Matt108

Nice picture! A lovely marina scene

Ambrosia

I'm so excited about this I texted a friend who isn't even a part of this patreon to let them know! haha. You better learn how to write fast, those pens are gonna be flying across pages for the whole show! (flying pun unintended but keeping it in there now)

Olivia McGowan

ooooo as a nervous flyer this is information that I did not need to know 😂😂 you’d think in this day and age there would be an easy fix for this!

Aidan

This was filmed in Hawaii, the film crew/ city officals had to make signs and let locals know that plane crash set on the beach was for a movie and not reality because it looked so real

Daniel Curry

I didn’t even know this was happening when I joined!! My favorite show of all time! Love the theories already! I won’t say what, but you guys made me chuckle by actually discussing actual future episodes and plot points. Those notebooks will get filled QUICKLY!

Melissa Redstag

Damn you Yankee for telling us that! 🤣🤣

Merri-gal

Thank you for this info that I wish I didn’t know, but thank you, truly, for having done such a stressful and critical job.

Merri-gal

❤️❤️❤️

Merri-gal

❤️❤️❤️

Kaisa

yup i'm so excited!! i remember i did like it, but seeing all the characters, i can barely remember one or two things that happens or how they behave... i hope i've just blocked it all out because i watched it with an ex and not because it wasn't that good that it would have stuck in my mind XD

Trevor Patterson

I've been counting down the days waiting for this drop. So excited!

Liam

One of the greatest TV shows ever made. People say the ending is one of the worst of all time, but that’s only because they don’t understand it, and when it originally aired, after the last scene the network played a short clip after it, which made people think the ending actually meant something else. It actually has a beautiful ending.

Trevor Patterson

Absolutely love that you two went into this show so blind not knowing anything about it. This will be my 3rd time re-watching the show and so excited to hear your reaction to it.

myinniemademedoit

First time I’ve watched this full episode in a few years, it actually made me a little emotional when Jack first runs to the beach and you see all the carnage of the plane crash. So much nostalgia from this show. Came out before social media was what is is today, I spent hours on message boards pouring over theories about this show. Really excited to experience these 6 amazing seasons with your guys. Hopefully you love this show as much as the rest of us. #3 on my all time list.

Brandi Davis

Charlie was also in The Rise of Skywalker!

Kingsley

Hell yeah! What's up Losties

Ludus Aurea

Another fun fact Lloyd Braun was a character in Seinfeld.

Ludus Aurea

I didn’t even realize that was Captain Holts mom. I knew I recognized her in b99.

Ludus Aurea

Just an fyi there will be quite a few more flashbacks to the crash.

corey

Cant believe I paid for a membership only to discover you need another tier to watch this. Fuck these guys here and youtube from now on.

Bailey Anderson

This is a top 5 show of all time for me. I am so excited to see your reactions as it unfolds! I’ll give away nothing, but simply say that numbers and people (even the seemingly small characters) are important in LOST. I used to get together with a group of work friends every week and watch this live. I’d simultaneously record it on TiVo (yes! It was that long ago), and we would rewatch it immediately and pause to catch the fun stuff. This show is literally the reason I joined your Patreon.

Kay

I'm back at the highest tier for my favorite show. GoT is my second fav and now you finally got the my GOAT. I had to wait for some financial things to sort out and now I am here and so excited, I think you adore this show! Can't wait for this journey!

Kay

It would be amazing!!!
