I'm a baker and I think it's totally plausible that it took Chef Patricia a week to make the cake, mostly because she was also preparing everything else for opening day. If it was a larger cake or had more complicated decorations though, it could take a week just for the cake itself. There's prepping, mixing the cake batter, baking, cooling, making the frosting/ganache, crumb-coating, frosting, building, and decorating. Tbh even the dinky little cakes I make for my nephews' birthdays can take a few days.
