Hi folks,

*Spoilers for Season 1 below*

Apologies for the essay before a poll, but I want to give some context. :)

One final decision that I need to make regarding the last scene in Season 1. It relates to the Lily tutoring scene, where she comes around to the house to get some tutoring from MC.

In the original game, this was really the first time that we had some proper alone time with Lily... and the player had an option to have sex with her (short term win, but closes off long-term romance options) or respect her (no sex) which opens up a path for a proper romance.

In the re-do, things are obviously different, because we have already had the roller-skating date, so we are on much more intimate terms with Lily already.

So, my predicament is this... In a porn game, by making the No sex option the "better" choice, is this frustrating for players? OR do you like the decision-making and the ability to respect the lady (to improve your chances of long-term shenanigans). So this leads to the poll to get your inputs.

Option 1: "Dilemma" - Keep it similar to the original, where an MC looking to have a long-term future with Lily will need to show some restraint and respect her (no sex), or he can fuck her, but this ruins his long-term chances.

Option 2: "Hassle-free sex" Remove the dilemma about having sex versus respecting her. Let the MC have sex with her, without consequence and without impacting future long-term romance.

Option 3: "Goldilocks option." If the MC has a STRONG relationship with Lily (you've made good choices up to now), you get rewarded with hassle-free sex (without hurting long-term chances). But for players on the edge (i.e. Lily's relationship score isn't high enough), then you have the dilemma choice where showing her respect (no sex) will help improve the relationship stats, but giving into temptation gets the sex, but closes the door on long-term.

Option 3 is a no brainer from my perspective

Yeah as long as the dialog consistently builds to the player "Lily is hot and wants you but doesn't want to just be seen as a sex object" then having a pass (respect) fail (pressure) and perfect (both equally want it) route would be the most rewarding. I think people modded it at one point to be able to have the scene and still end up with Lily so it is for sure in demand haha.

1 or 3. I don’t really think the prior date changes things as much as is indicated. Lily wants to be respected as a person despite her internally acting dumb. Having the MC ignore that, knowing that, I would think would be still seen as a negative. But I can also still see that if she has strong enough desire she might not see it as a slight (aka 3). I voted 3 because as mentioned this is primarily a ero game so I think 3 probably makes the most sense. It keeps the game aspect by tying it to previous decisions/score. I do think if it does en up being 3 the score requirement should be very high (perfect or nearly perfect IMO).

I think that the best AVN's have plenty of decisions that can mess everything up. They have more to them than just being a porn game. Personally I actually appreciated that the no sex option in the original scene was the best choice in the long term. That said, I can see Lily being more comfortable with it if you've already messed around prior, as you mentioned. I would still have her stress to you that she doesn't want the relationship to be built just around sex. Maybe you could set it up where, in that situation, there are no immediate consequences, but later down the line, say at the cooking lesson, maybe if you had sex at this time it would count as you already having a strike against you, making it a bit more important to toe the line in that scene.

Post 2 for this poll: I brought this up earlier that the roller-skating scene changed things for me, as a player. suggested you really need to write a scene for her to give back the "Dilemma” but I feel that in the remaster there is no longer an option for a Dilemma. However; my vote is "Dilemma" but Just to be an antagonist in the system…

Option 4: If I recall correctly, Lily is one of only two love-interests in the game that the MC hasn't yet done anal with, so...

I see that Option 3 seems to win out, however I like option 1. Not that it is completely unusual (See Jack Romance in Mass Effect 2), but for a porn game, to not have sex because the MC wants a serious relationship with Lily is definitely the odd choice and it's important for example to how I interpret the MC and identify with him, to make this decision.

You are going to have many more players that have never played the game or seen the options. Option 4 - You are either respectful, defer and get more down the line, OR you are more COERCIVE, (MC not always the good guy) and take her for all she is worth at this point (even anal or rough). Future could either look more like girlfriend or more controlling and dominate like Natasha or Wanda. We need that darker option with Lily. Thoughts?!

I agree with the early date and potential scene after i agree option 3 is the best. She's already established she's down for somethings and if she's head over heels with the MC it makes sense she might throw caution to the wind and go all the way. But if she isn't maybe this will be her way of resetting expectations. Which is believable since that's def happened to me before and i'm sure many other people as well. I do agree with Lionheart was well that with the remaster having you jump on paths so early everything feels less nuanced than before. It would have been nice to keep the slow build of some relationships. Like a 3rd option of "i don't know" which put you on the old slow build path of some charcters.

Impracticality

I'm late to the party here. I guess I'd ultimately go for the Goldilocks option, but I'm probably structure it more like the Dilemma. That is to say Lily won't hold it against an MC she really likes if jumps straight to sex, but she'll always prefer it if he takes his time and romances her properly. That does put the onus on the devs to convey these subtleties through dialog, expressions, and game mechanics, but I think it would be the best overall setup.

I have to ,go with dilemma. I know these are porn games but I much prefer when there is so build up. There is a difference between romance and lust. Some games just have you fuck everything as fast as you can with no rhythm or reason that it is hard to feel empathy for any of the characters at all. I like to read a story where characters feel real and there motivations are understandable. I hate reading stories like the pizza guy with a big sausage pizza.
