Hi All,

Hope you enjoy the teasers I just posted for EP24.  And to fill you in on what's been happening....

Unfortunately, Ace has moved on from the team due to real-life commitments and just not having the time to contribute.  We're not sure if he will be back for episode 25 so for now, I need to write all of the Ep24 scenes we had planned for Ace to write, in addition to completing my own scenes.   I will not be looking to hire a new writer as the process takes way too long (and too much of my time) and in the (almost) 5 years and 100s of auditions, we have only ever found one writer (Ace) who I felt matched my style and could provide the quality we required.   So the team now consists of Cell and I.

As mentioned before, there will be 25 episodes in total for WTHI (plus some epilogues), so episode 24 will be the penultimate episode and 2023 will finally see WTHI completed.  Cell/I had made good progress over December/Christmas.  We have made a good dent in every scene, with the exception of Monica/Zarah and we even expanded our plans to give more screen-time to characters that we didn't initially plan on including in EP24.  So overall, things were looking well but obviously losing Ace is a big set-back as he has been with us for so long and contributed to many great scenes over the past 3 years.  

In addition to finishing the game, we had a lot of plans for 2023 such as re-doing earlier art (and adding animations), correct many minor script errors, flesh out some of the earlier scenes and improve some of the solo-girl paths with more content, add sfx/music to ALL episodes and make a number of much-needed improvements to the game design/GUI/system and also release on Steam.

I had mentioned previously that we hoped to get episode 24 out in February but with us now working as a duo, Cell/I need to put our heads together and figure out a plan for the rest of the game.  Rather than be blindly optimistic and say we can still 100% commit to February, I would rather call it early and say that it could be  a struggle to hit that time-frame at this stage.  I have taken time-off from my real-job for the month of January so will be working on WTHI full-time (plus spare-time) and Cell will continue with his insane amount of logged hours and we will keep you posted.

Man, I’m glad I came back to supporting this game. I took some time off, but I did love this game. So sad to hear that it’s almost done. But happy to help finish the journey.

Shame about Ace, especially as you're so close to the end, but it's great to hear both you and Cell are working on. This game deserves a great ending!

I'm just going to say it, I'm glad you will be back in the saddle of writing. Even though you've made major points not to go through hiring another writer. I feel relieved and confident those duties are back in your capable hands. After all that's 50% of the draw for me, (the ladies get the remaining 50%). Ace will be missed; he's done a great job writing. I wish him all the best.

Sad to hear about ace. I don't know about others but I often found it very difficult to differentiate between your two writing styles. Unfortunate as well due to the fact that work tends to balloon at the end of a game...But please do your best to not burn out! We know your guys aren't milkers and good things take time. :)

Thanks for the update and sorry for the loss of Ace. You’ve done a great job and no doubt will finish strong. Please don’t feel the need to prioritize Monica/Zarah. My interest in that duo is zero. Monica and ANYONE else would be superb. Maybe her with one of the younger girls? Please consider it or just drop that scene and work you manic on the rest. Shame about Ace not being able to contribute any more. The biggest compliment I can give him is that the story and writing still seemed to come from the same mold. He has all my best wishes, and I can totally understand that you don't want to look for another writer. The finish line is in sight, the workload is enormous, but an end is in sight. Don't lose your drive, and hopefully you can still find joy in your work, as all of us do.

oh that's a great loss. A big piece of the puzzle falling down. Take your time guys, will wait for it since you have now a bigger load each on your plate.

The loss of Ace is sad news. It's good that you are both still determined to go forwards with your plans, but please don't stress yourselves out over maintaining the original deadlines. I'd rather you take your time and avoid burn out then scramble to complete the updates. Your health is more important than my entertainment!

Impracticality

I'm very sad to see Ace depart, I really liked his work (particularly with Wanda). I hope whatever he needs to deal with isn't serious. Other than that the news seems good. Better to under promise and over deliver than get in trouble rushing headlong into things. I'm not keen on giving Captain Heart more screen time at this stage of the game, but the rest of the teasers look interesting and I'm eager to see the story continue.
