Here's some more from my Procreate dump folder, a folder that groans with absolute nonsense. This one really builds, enjoy!

1. The Solver 2024 story meeting

2. The awful aftermath of the 2024 Solver story meeting

3. Onion Dan goes too far

 4. No idea

 5. Bed bugs / Eden from "Home & Away" / Paddy from "Emmerdale" / misc

Aside: this is from when I was moving into a new house last year. The previous resident had been evicted because her dog liked to "foul" the house and "bite the neighbours". The poor animal was not very happy. Just prior to my moving in, one of my new neighbours cheerfully told me that the departing tenant had howled "IT'S GOT BED BUGS" down the street as she left. I was paranoid about this for about a month. After CSI-style examinations of literally every millimetre of the house including taking the faceplates off plug sockets, I decided to risk it and have been rewarded with 0 bedbug bites and 1 outbreak of shingles due to extreme stress. To some extent, caused by imaginary bed bugs. Did I mention that the prior resident was a self-declared "hedge witch"? Don't worry. The definition of hedge witch is so broad that I could comfortably declare myself to be one.

5. Two more Paddys. Poor Paddy. I only saw him on screen by accident. it had been 25 years. Bald as an egg.

6. I must have posted this before, how could I not have? FLY BIRD BOY FLY!

One day, Bird Boy will soar He will capture the hearts of our generations

Luke

Late night gruel? Oh John you shouldn't have

Chris Whitworth

“Herbaceous Borders” is a catchphrase for our times

Brian Perler

Someday we'll get an actual Super Derek and/or Onion Dan story. Someday...

John C. Kirk

Is "Sleeping Satellite" based on the song by Tamsin Archer? Regarding bed bugs, I had similar paranoia a while back: I heard that people could stay in hotels, then bring the bugs back home on their clothing. I bought some monitors which I've stuck to each bed: https://www.bed-bugs.co.uk/product/passive-bed-bug-monitors/ (This isn't spam, I promise - I'm only a customer, not the person selling them.)

Ross Webster

Nonsense or not, I'd read all of these stories gladly.

scarygoround

For some reason the title of that song sticks in my head. I have no real attachment to it. That URL makes me think the website is run by bed bugs. It's their corporate site.

WJC

This gruel is rich and velvety.

scarygoround

I spent a lot of evenings at my mum and dad's in 2023 drawing absolute nonsense

WJC

I love that. I seem to have grown incapable of doing that nowadays. Unwilling to resist my phone unfortunately.

Dean Reilly

Nice to see that the John Allison Comics Universe is on the right track. I eagerly await the debut of Super Derek!

scarygoround

When I got conscious of the phone intruding on things I actually like to do I stopped having it in the room. Kicked the bastard out. Instant return to form.

unspiek

Super stuff! Someday, we'll read the tale of Orion Dan!

unspiek

Poor Paddy made me spin Red Roses for Me, so it's all gold!

WJC

I do try that. But it sneaks back in when I absolutely HAVE to find out the height of Joe Cole or any other actor. I persist.

glenn

Quite bonkers actually can't stop laughing. Your files must be stuffed with stuff just waiting to dazzle the unsuspecting!

E

Is Regard Venus a riff on Consider Phlebas?

Sean Kinlin

It may be the name of the new album from Bird Boy.

Matthew Hartwick

I’d call this exactly the sort of gruel I signed up for.

heyheyhaydn

I'm amazed with how Eden from Home and Away that Eden from Home and Away looks, flawless capturing of the character's likeness

E

Ooh. Follow up: Banks or Eliot? I need to know if I've been reading the works of another Culture fan!

scarygoround

TS Eliot. I've read plenty of Banks too but wasn't keen on the sci-fi ones

E

Fair enough, thanks as always for your lovely comics and art.

Jeremy Impson

I can't decide which #5 is my favorite.

Steven Lammert

Onion Dan. Wasn't he in a band with John Ford Anglia or summat?

Nathan Myers

He's a right laugh once you get to know him.

TheTurtleMoves

Any mention of bed bugs gives me imaginary bed bugs as well
