Someone asked why A Holiday Harlequinade wasn't up on Patreon all in one go. The answer is, I don't know. But for those who want to open their presents early, here it is. If you prefer to enjoy it in two-page bursts on the website... DON'T READ ON!

Luke Drotos

Was in the middle of reading that very comment on the comic page when suddenly I’m notified of this patreon upload

scarygoround

Yes, if I hadn't responded so fast, maybe I wouldn't accidentally have posted it to all the tiers instead of $3 and up but the email's gone out now so MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE I suppose (weeps)

Luke Drotos

More of Susan is already the greatest gift of all

Brad Brooks

Bloody marvellous stuff, John! Merry chrimbo to you and yours!

Richard Pringle

I thought it was a deliberate pre-Christmas marketing ploy - you were showing us sub-$3ers just what we were missing out on, so as to encourage us to pull our finger out and up our game, etc.

Nick Gibbins

I think that I've pulled a muscle cackling, and my office neighbour has just stuck his head round the door to ask if I'm okay.

Jason Clements

Loved this very much! And indeed Weegman's do make exceedingly good pies. Make your New Year's resolution to be just 10% less hard on yourself. Thanks for all your work.

sjlxndr

Brilliant! Surely some of your best work

Kevin Morgan

I couldn't help myself, and now I feel like I've just eaten all my calendar chocolates in one go. It's glorious!

heyheyhaydn

Truly Christmas... uhhh ... December 10th has arrived early this year - God bless us, everyone!

Tudza

Deca Decadence. Oh for when December was the tenth month. Then the people really lived.

Brian Ward

Dickens wishes his Christmas story was this good

Claire

LOVE U XXXX

Phil_M

Genus Allison, species illustrator (pronounced ill-USS-stra-toor)?

Phil_M

Wonderful. I’d pay good money for a fully inked and coloured version.

scarygoround

I think that would remove what I like about it somewhat but I’m glad you liked it.

Rimbo (he-him)

It's GLORIOUS. It's even better than the Muppets version AND THAT IS NO MEAN FEET. i meant feat but whatever

Chris J. Zähller

I'm going to read it in discrete chapters, like an advent calendar, but I wonder if you could post it as a PDF we could download?

Michael Schmidt

Oh how fantastic! Weighed down with a quarter century of comic continuity! These chains are yours! I'm just wearing them for dramatic effect!

Brian Tatosky

There is no part of this that isn't perfect. "Don't make comics about Conan" killed me. Happy Holidays, John.

Jeremy Impson

Oh my god John. This is amazing. To my knowledge / recollection you've never done self-references in your work. So how did you become SO GOOD at them!?

Luke Drotos

I’d say the weights have been slowly getting lighter after Wen-Tack ended, with the stories moving away from Tackleford for better horizons.

Melissa Gay

This is my new favorite piece of art!

Michael Schmidt

Yes, but the hilarity of having Desmond playing the role of Marley and saying those things needs to be highlighted!

Thomas MacColl

Thanks John, great stuff as always, and I look forward to going through it at a slower pace on the website over the next couple of weeks. I know it probably wouldn't work for a main release, but I think this style actually really works for you, the rougher drawings, minimal colour palette, use of interesting brushes/textures... very enjoyable!

Hank Heyming

I love this comic! I would buy a t-shirt with just the boy saying "Aren't all their pork pies the same size, mister? I mean, roughly?"

E

Extremely fun, and also I'm going to have to see if I can track down that Milo Manora variant.

Ross Webster

Such a fun holiday treat John! I love all your character choices for the Christmas Carol staples!

Ross Webster

The Steeple Milo Minara variant cover had me in stitches.

A Patreon of the Ahts

Yes, I read 100 web comics and the JA ones always have the best dialog.

Rob Cottingham

As the owner of a year's supply of regret-flavoured Gaviscon, I applaud the veracity of this comic.

Enno Rehling

All we want for Christmas is more comics with Fit Mum.

Nick Gibbins

When you say "self-references", are you referring to the fact that Tom-Grendel-drawn-by-John looks like a young version of John-drawn-by-John?

Jack

This has everything, Mr A, truly we are blessed. #SinisterDes #LovelySusan

Thomas Bean

V happy to see that Grendel lives on in your heart and mind! Cartoon Johnny’s expectations of who Brian wanted him to meet almost caused an embarrassing office guffaw. Also the Conan warning. The whole thing is both self indulgent and delicious. Merry Christmas!

Kasia

In the US there is a chain grocery store called Wegman’s, it took me a slightly embarrassing amount of time to realize that Weegman’s was not a legally distinct cartoon parody. Anyway this was great!

Tim

OMG, I love Susan Ptolemy even more now. Didn't think it was possible.

John Bowers

Kirby and... and Ditko? Great Caesar's Ghost!

scarygoround

Weegman’s is real… and it’s spectacular

Cherenkov

“Not today” is the perfect answer to “It’s going to be your balls isn’t it”

Cherenkov

Alas, poor Steeple. I wish it had worked out better for you financially because I really enjoyed it! A final volume would have been lovely. Such is life.

Brian Perler

As much as a surprise as it was to see Tom and Fit Mum, Kirby and Ditko were REALLY unexpected. (But welcome!)

Paul Williams

Loved this JA. Also: I was thinking about a series of variant covers based on businesses running along the A1 but you got there first

scarygoround

Pulse and Cocktails was exactly 69 miles from my house when I lived in Letchworth Garden City. This fact never ceases to please me.

Paul Williams

I'm confident their marketing team can do something with "69 miles to Pulse and Cocktails" - or would a crossover event feat. Reverend Penrose be too much to hope for?
