In Saturday's Q&A I wrote a bit about my attempt to get Boom to commission more issues of Wicked Things. I offered them an early version of Great British Bump-Off, and an early version of Wobbly Head. Neither was anything approaching being fully formed, but I have some sketches from that era that may be of historical interest.

I'm glad Shauna became the lead of GBBO because Shauna's great, and I'd missed her, but the thought of Lottie's energy filling the Bakery Tent is… intriguing!

Any notable differences in the earlier Wobbly Head drafts compared to the final version?

It's very different (Lottie's enemy is a Swedish folk singer!)

Wonder if that means the small moment where Lottie and Claire enter a singing contest is meant to be a leftover from that

It's ~300 words of brief notes and a few sketches... almost none of which ended being used besides a doppelgänger (always the plan) and the skeleton costume. It all pre-dates Solver, Glenn, the Sheffield setting etc. The wobbly head wasn't even a reservoir, it was an actual head. There's no secret other version. It's just an outline.

Then it’s just a coincidence. I didn’t think it was more than an outline anyway, but it’s still interesting seeing how far back these ideas go.

Claire and Lottie singing together has been cut from various stories for length. I always want to get into the story of their high school band with Blossom and Shauna but I want to do it right.
