Reader Luke Drotos assembled this gallery of my Scary Go Round collection covers and put it on the reader chat, but I thought you might all enjoy it. The earliest of these covers was drawn in 2003, I think the latest dates from 2021/2. How Luke found some of the weirder "prototype" ones, I'm not sure, probably old blogs on Wayback Machine? I really struggled with covers, for a long time - anything that looked half decent was a compositional accident! I'm a very slow learner, but I continue to improve.

The first cover I did that I actually liked was this one (2012):

But I really had to shape up for the covers I did for Marceline & The Scream Queens a year or so later. I'll dig those out and post them another day.

Just realised that I didn't buy the last 3 volumes on digital 😲! Where can I get these now? (I have the physical books, but...)

Gumroad! The subdomain is scarygoround.

That's a lot of creative time, compressed into individual covers. Awe isn't an adequate-enough word.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. To answer that question, I was able to find some of the more obscure ones via internet archive, on blogs like “a hundred dance moves per minute”. I was most surprised by the original Skellington cover (which I stumbled onto) and “Fancy Burns Faster”, showing how Vol 7’s cover originally had a different idea before circling back to the “Peloton” title.

It’s fun categorizing this kind of creative process. I’ve made more in regard to JA’s comics, and plan to post them in the future.

My favorite cover is probably the ebook one for “Blame the Sky”. There’s just something inherently funny about Tessa holding Rachel in that matter (not to mention the updated Adobe-style art looking really strong).

I loved (and still love) these covers. My faves are the print covers for Blame The Sky and Great Aches.
