I've been trying to do a new cover for Giant Days x Batman that doesn't have Batman on it like the original does (this seems wise). I really liked the original, which makes the job a lot harder. I've produced several bad covers, here are two that were okay but I didn't feel really spoke to my "aesthetic". Neither has been "finished" but I thought they were fun enough to show here.

Making multiple failed covers for something usually coincides with being tired, but nothing revives me like repeatedly trying to do something and getting it wrong. It's invigorating and refreshing!

What about the girls stood in front of a light/torch, and projecting a bat-like man shadow? Almost like a "signal"....

I have no idea how you would do that! 😂. Come to me for ideas, not solutions

Dan

McGraw with his cricket bat, looking confused. "But I thought you said... ohhhhhh, sorry"

I love the 2nd one; it is so reminiscent of your earlier SGR or even Bobbins work it just makes me happy.

Emil

Yeah! I was thinking something like the title for Batman: The Animated Series where the girls are silhouetted against the night sky atop a building.

Pierpaolo Di Camillo

They are both beautiful. But the second one has that something evil/menacing that make me appreciate it more.

Matthew Coda

Thanks John, love that one too!

I'm well familiar with that cover - I think I've been looking at it for 25 years! A huge favourite.

the second is fun! im not a huge fan of back-seat artistry, but have you considered the batman tas rooftop pose but with our trio instead of bats?

Patrick M Fitzgerald

Have them staring at a huge coin (we're looking at them from behind).

Alaric Shapli

Remember, Batman may be trademarked and copyrighted, but bats aren't. Maybe you could work in a very un-Batmanlike bat, somehow?

Dee Fish

There are always ominous, pointy shadows.

Jeremy Impson

Yeah that second one is freaking me out.
