I mentioned yesterday that I am contemplating making a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle to commemorate my 25th comics anniversary. The barrier to this is my high  standard of jigsaw picture appreciation and the commensurate effort and personal skill required to hit that standard. I want a lot of little people. I want a lot of textures to aid construction of largely homogenous zones. I don't want a lot of sky. I want a little story in there. I want some structures. I want some repetitive elements. I once did a puzzle of a big horse's face and I almost went mad. This cannot be a big horse face situation.

The first stage of the process is to think about all the little people. I want to encompass all characters who have been important to Scary Go Round stories over the last quarter century. Which means I had to draw them all while watching TV. I just needed to see them all at once, but little. These are not the drawings I will use on the puzzle, they're just a reference. Some characters appear twice, to represent different epochs. Note, I ran out of space for the cast of "Destroy History" and a few others, but I've made a note of those.

Perhaps, then, it will amuse some of you to try to identify everyone on my big grid of 128 tiny characters. Bear in mind that some of them have probably not been drawn very well!

There you are. Something to occupy your Sunday.

I think I can identify most of them, if not by name than by general description (i.e., what story they were in and what they did there and whatnot). But the only one that's important is #35 anyway, right?

Are there... 3 Lotties? That's a lot of Grote.

Jessica Lauren

I would LOVE a 1,000 piece SGR puzzle! 🤩🧩

I demand justice for Friend-Bat, the most ill-advised pet (after a baby wendigo).

There I am! (102)

Matt (not that one)

I'd love to see a puzzle! SGR-related arts & crafts has been a weird passion of mine. (Full confession: When bestselling instant-classic rhythm game Rock Band 3 first came out for the XBox 360, I spent way too much time crafting characters to look like members of the SGR crew. Every once in a while, I get the urge to dig out the old plastic-guitar controllers and play a set with that band, which I lovingly named "The Tackleford Empire." And then I remember the arthritis.)

This is lovely, Matt. I used to really enjoy the little SGR-based game avatars people would send me - there were some hilarious Sims based on them.

Nathan Myers

If it has Moon and a wendigo, I'm in.

Chris J. Zähller

Am I missing Mad Terry & his mum, or are they in there somewhere?

Alaric Shapli

Wasn't that an old romance comic series? "A Moon, A Wendigo... Romance"!

Alaric Shapli

I was wondering that, too, but I didn't want to start posting "Where is (insert character name)?" posts. It's quite an accomplishment, and it's not as if John could have included everyone. Still, it does seem as if Mad Terry should be there somewhere...

Daniel Carl

Comrade Bat just wasn't the same.

Chris J. Zähller

No complaints here! I love these & I realize Johnny A. had to make choices!

Rainbow Wilson

Precisely why I came here! Also, as a person who owned I think TWO Bears Will Eat You shirts, ....Devil Bear, where art thou?

scarygoround

Haha, I'm sure I've missed loads, these were just the ones i remembered while watching TV. I'm sure I could fill a third page if I had the books to hand.

Are 105 and 106 meant to be Dean and Ingrid?
