These little side quests make for some good entertainment. Although I still wonder how they are going to "end" the evil dead this time with no one around to read the book again.

Amanda and Ash? I mean I can see he has charm but... Girl you're stronger than that. Resist it hahah! Although nothing like a near death experience and a good ole fashioned ass whooping to get the blood flowing.

I see Ash being a "douche bag" differently. I think going way over the top with his gross sexual comments and innuendo is a very deliberate part of his character. They're showing that in his own mind, Ash is an incredibly suave, charming, sexy guy, but in reality, he is absolutely terrible at that and doesn't have the first clue how to flirt with a woman. Ash is a man in his 50s, definitely past his prime, who acts like a particularly immature teenage boy who never grew up. And the fact that he doesn't recognize that is part of the fun of the character. And it's just one of the ways in which he's a boy who never grew up: not having any kind of career or a serious relationship, living in a trailer, trying to dodge paying the tab in a restaurant and all the rest. And his over-the-top sexual comments are also part of the over-the-top everything in this show. Everything is gross and disgusting, but also hilarious, whether it's the excessive blood and gore or Ash's cringe-worthy efforts at flirting. If you wanted to get serious about it, you could see his behavior and many unsuccessful life choices as evidence of the trauma he suffered from what happened to him in very first Evil Dead movie. It stunted him and his refusal to grow up is a coping mechanism from that trauma. Or, as I prefer, you can just laugh and shake your head and say, wow, that guy is a complete ass.

Funny how you remarked on how different the tone can be between different shows made by the same people. I'm currently struggling though Cleopatra 2525 and despite having 3 women leads it still has a very strong boys made this show vibe. Cleopatra herself in this show is meant to be a stripper from modern times who had a boob job which went wrong so the doctors put her into cryogenic sleep until she gets woken up in 2525.... 💀
