Me, at 10 years old: omg I love the music so much! I wish I could just listen to that, even without the rest of the movie. My aunt: let me tell you about a soundtrack. Then she got me the soundtrack on cassette and I played the hell out of it. The music is so good. Movie is also fun! But holy hell, the music ❤️ Excited for this one!

As a kid, you watch this movie and connect with max. As an adult, your heart breaks for Goofy. That’s why it’s such a great movie! ❤️

I am really enjoying rewatching the movies I grew up with. And if I only ever take away one thing from Disney movies is, singing can solve all your problems

This was my first time watching the movie although I remember seeing the open road song sequence on it's own and I have a vague memory of there being a TV series based on the movie which I did watch. Gee did this movie make me feel sad tonight with the generational rift between Goofy and Max. I don't even blame Max for it because although Goofy has the best intentions and is trying to connect to his son, he's not listening to him so hardly surprising that Max resorts to changing the map. Goofy is infantalising Max and is struggling to adapt his parenting style to a teenager and is clearly more at ease with the preschoolers he photographs at work. While he obviously love him deeply that failure to let go of the child and accept his son for who he is, is heartbreaking. Good for Goofy though when he does start to adapt and gives Max the choice of where to stop en route. Goofy clearly hates the choices but he does it anyway to make Max happy and they grow closer for it. Max on the other hand is wrong to lie to Roxanne and Goofy, yet when he does, neither is willing to listen to the truth he tries to tell them at first. He also fails to see the love other people have for him, again from both of those characters. As you said it really hits differently seeing these movies for the first time as an adult and being able to read these meanings into it. I have a pretty solid relationship with my mum but a less than optimal one with my dad so this did kinda hit me in the feels. 💔
