PWAISE HESTIAAAAA! Hi Leah girl hahaha. We now have 4, yes 4, Xena lookalikes in this world. Lord help Lucy if she ever has to act with all four of them in one episode. As a writer, I would LOVE to know how you can keep your wits about you enough to write an episode that makes sense.

Lucy as always knocked it out of the park. I love these. Upon first watch, it's a mind fuck on who it really is. It's the way they have to act like someone else that gets me second guessing everything. But upon the rewatches, it does become very obvious who is who with the way Lucy plays them all.

So many quotable moments. "PLEASE LET THAT BE A PETTING ZOO!" "Well.. We all have our little excuses now don't we." "I AM THE HOLY WOMAN!" "Believe me, knowing myself won't be an issue" Okay Gabrielle damn.. UGH 10s across the board!!!!

Man all those kids who watched this (clearly with very little adult supervision) must have been so lost on this one! Great reaction as always. Had me really laughing along with you guys.

This is my favourite Xena doppleganger too. This scene where they’re sat together in the woods is probably the funniest comedy scene in the whole show for me for several reasons. It’s tongue-in-cheek, well written humour. This show never takes itself too seriously and can even be quite the parody spoof sometimes. Lucy’s performances, playing both the character Xena and Leah. All the different mannerisms she does and that widiculous accent where she sounds like a 3-year-old. Then you have the character dialogue between Gabrielle and Leah talking about the impurities of sex. Gabrielle humiliated over Leah shaming her for the loss of her virginity and trying to defend herself. Xena reacting to the insults, pulling silly faces and laughing at Gabrielle’s expense, then turning away when Gabrielle looks at her. It also has my favourite line of dialogue from Gabrielle in the whole show: “believe me, if I have to go the rest of my life without companionship, knowing myself won’t be a problem.” That masturbation joke cracks me up every single time.

This is my favourite too! Lucy have such physical comedic atributes. She didn't mind to make crazy faces. She works not just with her voice but also her posture. It completely change for every character. This was the first episode they shot for season 3. Actually, every Xena doppelgangers episodes are the ones they shot first, with the exception of "Warrior...Princess", because the cast and crew love comedies and its a great and more relaxed environment to start a season. However, after this episode they shot "The Deliverer", Gabrielle's Hope", "Maternal Instincts" and "King of Assassins", before they had a break. Imagine the range of emotions our cast had to express and play with. From slapstick comedy to very high drama. They really were brilliant!

A couple of years ago, there was a homophobic account going around complaining that all the Xenites were sexualising the show and specifically what they described as Xena and Gabrielle's obviously platonic friendship. They complained that there simply wasn't any adult content in the show and anyone sexualising it by implying Xena and Gabrielle were a couple, were somehow deviants. I replied to them with the clip of Joxer and the SWers song from this episode and asked what the non-sexualised explanation for it was. They blocked me. 💀

Because they think being gay or queer is something depraved because it’s all about sex. To them, if it’s a straight romance, then it’s pure and more authentic. They cannot conceive that a gay or queer relationship can be just as dimensional and complex as a straight one. They’re incapable of viewing gay/queer love in the way that they would viewing straight love. Or they’re incapable of understanding that love is unconditional. Gay/queer love is somehow more “sexualized” and therefore more inappropriate than straight love is. When that’s just not the case at all. It’s exactly the same as straight love. Individual couples may be more sexual than others but that still doesn’t make it wrong. Sexuality isn’t wrong. I was just watching this episode of South Of Nowhere where there’s a pool party and everybody is all coupled up. Except there’s one gay couple doing exactly the same, behaving exactly the same as the straight couples and yet they’re the ones being “NC-17” for it. It’s a huge double standard and it’s a damn shame. Straight people just think gay couples are wicked.

Best line in the whole show for me. 😂👌 It also goes along well with my headcanon that Xena and Gabrielle aren’t a couple yet. They’ve kissed but nothing more and Gabrielle often has these piney moments were she’s basically trying to subtly hint to Xena that she wants to go further than that.

I LOVE this episode. It ranks very high for one of my favorite comedic episodes of this show. Lucy Lawless is just brilliant in how she plays each character so differently even when they all are played by Lucy. Leah is just hilariously funny, and you cannot help but like her. "We all have our little excuse don't we?" "PWAISE HESTIA!" Meg is always a ball of laughs. I still love that Gabrielle thinks that Xena is testing her in the beginning when it isn't clearly Xena. This makes me think that Xena does test her sometimes like this.
