Aphrodite girl, this is all your fault hahaha. EVERY TIME THEY SMELLED HER I COULDN'T HELP BUT LAUGH. She's so Goddess coded, they do a great job writing her. Just things you would never think about but make complete sense.

3 NAKED GABRIELLES? And Xena said that shit with so much enthusiasm too. Can we not send those back just yet wink wink. Then for them to ask for Xena to come back but it's Minya instead? GENIUS. Loved seeing her again. A full little twist on a Genie in a Bottle episode ya know? I hope this made Gabrielle realize her words do have power.

Gabrielle solving all her problems in The Quill is Mightier by sending people to the caves. Very fun. Gabrielle and Ares have a very interesting dynamic indeed. It may not seem like it right now but Ares actually respects Gabrielle for what she does for Xena. Even though him himself admits that he doesn’t know what Xena sees in her, he recognizes the importance of her and finds her the most irritating thing in the Universe because of that very factor. But deep down he respects her for loving Xena the way he cannot and he hates that. You’ll see what I mean by that as you continue to watch the show. There’s actually a line in this episode where he kind of expresses that he knows her importance to Xena. He says “Xena rejoins the woman who brought her to a new life” and he says it in such a reverent way. He understands. He just hates that he understands. Ares is one of the main characters that validates X&G.

This episode is a chaotic comedy. Minya is great fun as is the Ares and Aphrofite dinamic. Another highligth for me was Ted Raimi acting in that small scene where Joxer gaves Gabrielle a gift. We saw a bit of that side of Joxer at the end of A Comedy of Eros and we will see more of that later on but here his acting was so real and subtle. I loved it. Ted was able to give Joxer some depth.

A warrior, Joxer the Mighty, Asked a boon from the god, Aphrodite. And what a surprise, He saw with love's eyes, Three times... Gabby not in her nightie? 💀

This was the 9th episode shot for the season and was the first they shot after the big break they did at the middle of every season. They called it the "Winter Break" because it was from mid August to mid October and, although it was summer in the States, it was winter in New Zealand during that time. And it was a Xena lite episode because Lucy played Rizzo in Grease on Broadway during this hiatus for a month and half. She made 8 shows a week. Although it was great fun for her it was also hard work. So when it ended the Xena producers gave her a one week break so she could rest before returning to production.

I really enjoy this episode and I hope you did watch it a couple more times, Hunter, because there are so many jokes and fun moments packed into it that you can't catch them all in one viewing - especially when you're laughing so much!

But as much as I like both these comedies, the whole time a part of my brain is yelling, "Oh my God, the next two episodes! Oh my God, the next two episodes!" Wait, what am I saying? The next THREE episodes!

As someone who has seen this episode numerous times over the years and loves it, the awoke with a jerk went over my head like Joxers until watching this 🤣 I thought they were laughing at the actual phrase waking with a jerk, not that Joxer is the jerk lol

It was both!! She did awake with a jerk (she sprung up) but also yes, Joxer is the jerk 😂 I’m so surprised I got the jokes tbh. Usually some go right over my head too. -ahunter

I think this was cute and fun episode. Ares and Aphrodite have a great brother/sister dynamic. Alexandra and Kevin play really well off of each other. It was great seeing Minya come back. Renee and Kevin also play really well off of each other. I thought this was a very unique way of writing a Xena lite episode. This gave Gabrielle a chance to figure things out on her own with the help of her friends, frenemies.

Hey ladies! I’ve really been enjoying your Xena reactions! I wanted to recommend the Xena Warrior Podcast to you. I have a feeling you two would really enjoy it as you go through the series. What I like about the podcast is that the hosts really dive deep into the characters, the little details, the behind-the-scenes stuff and all sorts of things you might not think about while watching. There have been so many times when listening to them made me notice something I’d completely missed, or made me look at an episode in a different way. Anyway, I just wanted to share it because I genuinely think you two would have fun with it!

Hey girls! Just a quick suggestion—not sure if you've already recorded your reactions for season 3 from episode 11 onwards, but if you haven't, I'd highly recommend watching episode #14 after the episode #17. The storyline actually makes way more sense that way!
