The daughter they could've had! Ugh this just makes me more upset they never got to actually raise Solan. WE WERE SO CLOSE.

Tara is the perfect mix of both of them in my opinion. She's cunning just like Xena but she has Gabrielle's hard headedness lol. It's really fun to see them come together and parent this kid. A welcomed change of pace for sure! And of course seeing Xena changing the path of a young person's life in a positive way is very heartwarming. All it takes is one person to believe in you when you don't believe in you.

Not sure if it was just me but the audio went out around the 43.00 minute mark. I tried rewinding, but it didn't work

No sound towards the end guys.

Can you guys give me a few and when I get home I’ll reedit it!! -H

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean by that analogy, Tash as I refer to Xena and Gabrielle as the human representation of yin-yang. Two halves of one whole or one soul in two bodies. They’re permeating into each other just like yin in yang and yang in yin and we’re seeing them settle into a proper domestic partnership where they do have to communicate with and compromise for each other and even if they can’t explicitly say they’re a couple, you do see them show that they are so it is sincere WLW/queer representation.

This was what got Shiri Appleby the role in ‘Roswell’. And she’s by no means the only actor in this show that made a name for themselves and went on to do bigger roles and become major acting stars in their own right. Half the cast of The Lord Of The Rings films is in the Xenaverse because they took the people, the places, the writers and the directors from Xena and Hercules and left the producers of both shows with crumbs.

The role of Tara was written by RJ Stewart for the actress Selma Blair. Selma shot early that year a pilot for a possible TV show for the Xena producers called "Amazon High" that never aired. Selma was a fan of Xena but at this time she was becoming a rising star and due to other work commitments she couldn't film this episode. So they end up casting Shiri Appleby, who I think did a good job.

The night scenes in forests were shot inside a huge warehouse studio where the production designers built huge forests and it looks so real. It was also brilliantly lit. They rarely do night shoots. Almost every night scenes in the show are shot inside a studio during the day.

I can see from the comments that there was a problem with the audio that had to be fixed. FYI the episode audio is now about a second out of sync with the video, although your voices are still synced so it's not too distracting.

I’ll lose my mind actually lol. I don’t know why it does that. I’ll fix again in a sec. -H

Looks like Tash will have to reedit this one as it’s not a simple fix/edit unfortunately. She’ll have it up in the next two days!

I love her personally. I can’t remember if I mention it in this video but her episode on SVU is one of my favorite due to her outstanding performance. She breaks my heart every time. So I was very happy to see her in this! -H

My understanding is this episode doesn't have the best reputation in the fandom which imho is probably more a reflection on the extremely high standard of the preceeding run of episodes which overshadow it. I do enjoy the domestic comedy going on between Xena and Gabs here though. Lucy does some very funny face acting to show Xena's readying herself for Gabrielle to be mad at her or being grumpy when she has to go tell Tara off and stop being the fun parent. The whole charades scene is great fun. Gabrielle being a theatre kid is so in character for her. I like the serious note the episode ends on very much too. Xena not willing to take a shortcut to redemption. Likewise the point where the ep gets serious for a second when Tara breaks down crying. A scene I realise they copied in one of the dramatic higb points of the first season of Angel. Another one for the Xena did it first tally.

2 Girls 1 Episode

I mean that’s fair. The episodes before this are just so peak this one can come across as just an annoying little girl who won’t quit agitating Gabrielle to split them up. But I enjoyed the domestic aspect of it a lot. Teaching a child about morals and how to be a good human being is not easy work. But they did it nonetheless. -H

From the beginning, Rob Tapert always wanted for Xena and Hercules to have 5/6 seasons. After the massive success of season one Universal made long term contracts with TV stations in America and around the world. That gave financial security to Universal to produce the show for at least 5 more years. When Universal lost the prime time slots on many TV stations (actually all syndication was in decadence because big networks started to produce their own shows and aired them on those prime time slots) the ratings droped, around season 4, but still was profitable for them to produce the show. Doubts started to appear at the middle of season 5, because the show was becoming more and more expensive to produce but the ratings weren't getting significantly better due to bad time slots. But ultimatly they decided to make one last season, season 6, because, although the ratings were lower than the ones up to season 4, the show was still number one of syndication shows.
