Lucy lite day but we get double the Ted plus more Bruce! Of course, it makes total sense Joxer would have a brother who's the best at being an Assassin.

We are also introduced to Cleopatra, and she's everything we could hope for. Although now I'm wondering if we will maybe get the storyline of her most famous alliance... side eye emoji. Wonder how that would bode with Xena since it seems the subtext was subtexting between those two! Make sure Gabrielle can be there to watch at least!

Can we all take a second to appreciate this gloriously gay moment at the end of ‘The King Of Assassins’  where Queen Cleopatra hits on Xena and offers to generously accommodate her where she planning on visiting Egypt. Xena was so taken aback by that blatant statement that she’s rendered completely speechless. And don’t think I missed Miss Smirky McSmirkington in the background there possibly contemplating on and thinking up a devious plan in that imaginative and manipulative little mind of hers to proposition a threesome. She’s not about to let her woman go to Egypt without her and if she can convince her of taking her along, then she can convince her of anything. Or perhaps all of this was communicated between them in nothing more than a short glance at each other… because you know… their body language is just that damn proficient and they can strategize an entire mission in 2.5 seconds flat. Who needs scrolls and quills when you and your soulmate have an instantaneous form of silent correspondence in the psychic skill of telepathy?

I actually enjoy this episode a lot. One of my favorite funny Gabrielle moments is in this episode where she throws the wooden bowl like the Chakram to the jail bars. I thought Ted Raimi did a great job of playing Jett who is complete opposite of who Joxer is. The actress who plays Cleopatra is named "GIna Torres". She is a great actress and I loved her portrayal of Cleopatra.

This episode was shot in July of 1997 and was the 5th episode to be shot for the season. This was a Xena lite episode because Lucy was only available for 2 days because she had to go to the VSDA convention in Las Vegas to promote the show and the Hercules and Xena animated movie. After the shooting of this episode they had a one week hiatus and then they returned production to shoot the Debts episodes and the Dirty Half Dozen.

I enjoyed this episode. We need some comedy at this point in the show. Bruce and Ted are a riot! And Gabrielle throwing that bowl was super funny!

Really, really sad that Bruce just announced he only has five years to live due to his cancer. But really, really grateful that the fans are being supportive of his decision to go into semi-retirement and make spending time with his family and friends his priority. Fandoms can be real buttholes sometimes, so it’s nice to see kindness and empathy win out for once.
