Yes those are the only classes he'll take, people in the UK tend to choose 4 for AS level (exams at the end of their first year of sixth form) and drop one to do 3 A levels (end of second year exams). No idea what Nick did I'm afraid

Yes, it means that those are the only classes that he will take for his next two years of school (years twelve and thirteen, equivalent to grades 11 and 12 in the US, commonly referred to as sixth form). I believe Nick’s A-Levels were shown in book four as psychology, biology, physical education, and geography. Generally, students tend to choose 3 or 4 A-Levels classes. Hope this helps!

They do things differently there from Canada and the U.S. - they start at year 1, not kindergarten, so they go up to year 13. Charlie’s a year 12 (like 11th grade for us) on the younger side (16) and Nick’s a year 13 (like 12th grade for us) on the older side (18).

Yeah, it’s interesting and so different! In the U.S. I had to take 6-7 classes til the very end. Being able to focus more on your favorites seems cool… but also not sure I’d have felt comfortable or ready to totally lean into my passions (vs. what I felt I *should* do) that young, and for me I think it was good to be able to explore more of diverse range of subjects. (I’m not a math person at all and was shocked at how much I ended up enjoying calculus lol, which made me feel a bit more confident too!)

Same. You can also do the same thing your first 2 years of college/uni, which I hear is not common in universities outside of the US. "Undeclared" isn't a thing, as far as I know. I can see advantages both ways. If you really hate something *coughNickmath* it's nice to have the option to let it go and move on. But I totally agree with you about the advantages of exploring a broader range of subjects when you're young.
