Some people are just naturally confident…for the rest of us, we have to work to be it. This page summarizes the process we have watched of Charlie building his confidence for this very moment. I love how the first panel is his last “test” as we see Charlie’s head turn up over his shoulder and look up at call audible through the open door (he could still run you know!), and we can start to sense what he will do! Then we get those brilliant closeups of 3 last confidence building steps: speech, check; walk up to the stage, check; grab school sports coat, check. These closeup panels remind us of every little step Charlie has worked through (with a little support from Nick and friends!) to build his own confidence. And then, the last panel. OMG!! Every detail drawn here exudes determination! His dark silhouette against the gray curtains (that seem to be moving in support!) highlights the power and motivation we feel dripping off this entire page. all of this feels like the same vein as when he dressed for the first Queer Intentions concert, but, it’s also shows a different facet of Charlie Spring. This is professional, bigger then him, determined to make change, and be in the spotlight to make it happen Charlie Spring and I’m so proud of him🥹❤️
