Season 2 of the show obviously drove home some real similarities between them as characters, despite them seeming so different on the surface level. 💕 So it’s cool to see them as barista buddies! Can you imagine casually sitting in the quiet setting of the rainy day cafe, enjoying a hot latté in the holiday atmosphere, when, BAM! The door flies open and there stands an incredible and dramatic force of nature, Darcy Olsson! The details are divine...from the baggy pants to the midriff shirt (it IS winter, lol!) to the amazing jacket (the collar alone has me 🫠)...not to mention the absolutely fitting and completely perfect new Darcy hairstyle. It matches the energy Darcy brings, and I love that Alice chose throughout the whole series to make Darcy's eyebrows so dark and prominent...they highlight even more the chaotic, wonderful vibe that Darcy brings to the friend group. (I also love that Alice took the time to write sandwich combos on the chalkboard menu that actually sound good, but I digress). How terrific it is that that they are working together...there is already a natural dichotomy between how Charlie (who overthinks, worries, focuses on grades, super passionate about certain things, will be on time for work for sure) and Darcy (who is loud, excited, also passionate about a lot of things, will work hard but arrive in a hot mess sense of time) operate, and I am so eager to see how they can bring out different facets of one another as they spend time together at work. (Laura, sending you an extra mocha because Darcy working there is going to be SO interesting for us, and maybe slightly stressful for the manager, lol, but I have high hopes for you, tbd). Charlie and Darcy do have so much in common between their family dynamics, their complete love for their amazing partners, and their empathetic desires to make sure their respective partner is happy and content and adored. They just approach things differently, and to me, that will lend itself to honest and vulnerable conversations that can help both of them grow. Being around trusted friends who see things a little differently can be so freeing. I CANNOT WAIT. ( and omg, s3...be still, my heart!).

Now you write all of that, I've realised that to date Charlie and Darcy is a coupling within the group we've really not seen enough of yet, and now I really REALLY want to see more Charlie and Darcy quality time and that dynamic, for the reasons you describe. And we've already seen Nick opening up a little to Tara and Elle, and how refreshing their perspective is to Nick, pointing out things about himself that would never have occurred to him. Could we maybe, possibly, perhaps see a 'Charcy' heart-to-heart? Also what's going on with Darcy's rn? She's doing a gap year, right? Will she be feeling left behind when Tara goes to uni? Especially as we know her home life's not so good. Will she get the fuck out of here and go travelling? Does she have a perspective that could help our Charlie?

coming on here after finishing s3 and attempting to sleep a few hours before having to do work to say — alice you absolutely smashed it!!!!!!!! the pacing was amazing and it truly felt like every single second of screen time and storylines were dynamic and important. i truly don’t think i’ll ever have the words to articulate how impactful seeing the events of vol 4 + 5 + this winter on screen means to me. huge huge congratulations to you and the team ❤️
