I'm curious. Were you always planning on giving Darcy this storyline in the comics, or was that decision influenced by their storyline in season 3 of the show? Darcy has always been gender non-conforming in the comics, but I feel more of a nonbinary arc coming on here as well. (Or maybe my view is slightly biased after watching s3 on repeat haha)

Hope you had a great trip...and still soaking in all the storylines in in season 3. It's like every time I watch, I love a different character the most...I'll never be able to answer "whose arc do you most love" because they all hit me so hard at different times, and are all so NEEDED to be seen and shared. It's really a beautiful "problem" to have, and I'm so grateful to you for creating that❤️‍🩹🌈 I still cannot get over Darcy's new haircut, and the way it's kind of flowing everywhere as she turns away from Charlie (and from finishing her thoughts from the last page) is just so...Darcy. She is trying to distract (maybe even subconsciously) with her offer to restock the fridge...I mean, who actually OFFERS to do that? Charlie's face carries so much emotion in panel two...He sees through her distraction and into her "better keep moving so you don't feel the pain" tactic...the way his eyes are drawn really shows what all he is processing and thinking about what he should/shouldn't say next. I love how we are getting these glimpses of Charlie now on the "other" side of his hardest mental health illnesses where he is able to sense pain and hurt in his friends (and preemptively with his schoolmates)...AND really lean in and support them. Charlie's light is strong and bright enough to share with and help others now (instead of just absorbing their pain and hurt like before), and I'm here for it❤️‍🩹 Speaking of someone who might need a little light, Nick Nelson's dropping of his pack feels like he just dropped a million pounds on the ground. He is still carrying the weight of the unknown, of fear, of anxiety, of procrastination, of who I am...you can see it on his downcast, exhausted face. Henry and Nellie notice this as they give him space (no immediate jumping or licking), assessing what Nick needs.....SARAH, we need you, I think🫂

Hooray, a new page! Welcome back, Alice. I would say that we missed you, but you know we all came along with you on your trip, LOL. So lovely seeing your support for Kit in R&J. In today's page, Nick seems so defeated and lost. The weight of his heart seems to be in his pack that just plummeted to the floor. These two soulmates should already know to trust their hearts and their love for each other, knowing that they can overcome anything (bullying, coming out, mental health, sex) and most definitely, a long distance relationship. Possibly a wise mum chat coming?

I find there was a lot of discussion with Tara about the toll on Nick during Charlie's hospitalization and recovery during season 3 and Nick's subsequent emptiness and lack of purpose. Nick was dismissive of its impact and doesn't seem to have discussed it with Charlie or possibly Sarah. Here we are several months later and Nick is in some withholding space and communicating skills between Charlie and himself are in some weird space. Wonder where we are headed. Hope Sarah can help break the deadlock.

I like how the series delved deeper into Nick's head space during this time (same with s2). The Halloween Party scene was really moving and also a really cool surprise — I think my favourite extra-bit-that-wasn't-in-the-comic of s3. Especially for us on Patreon given we've just got to see the Halloween a year later which included a brief flashback to that time. But seeing Nick at the party really touched a nerve. Poor baby. And the bit where Tao comforts him... the Nick and Tao one-to-one moments throughout the series and how their relationship evolves are something really special.

Both of the Halloween scenes were gut wrenching. The flashback with Charlie so disengaged and barely hanging on and Nick terrified but trying his best. And the evolution of Nick and Tao's friendship with the Halloween party support was so touching. It was wonderful that Tao thought to come and offer it and that Nick immediately accepted it and was so vulnerable ❤️‍🩹
