I think in general, Nick should ignore David, but I don't think Nick needs to turn the other cheek when David is bullying to him or Charlie. Being the "better man" doesn't mean not responding to harassment. Of course, he shouldn't go down to David's level, but standing up for himself, yep, he should. Especially when one of Nick's big issues is that he internalizes everything, whereas David more spews his pain at other people. They all need therapy.

It's so funny that it's always been hard for me to see the family resemblance between Nick and David, until Nick gets an angry face - then I can see it 😆

I'm curious as to where David will be at in this story and whether it could actually play a positive role in Nick's journey. *S3 Spoiler* In the tv universe we saw S3 David as much more bitter, the trauma over their Dad's rejection making him cut a much more tragic and deflated figure than that of a villain of S2. His attempts at Bullying just seemed pathetic this time around, and his arrogance weakened by his own self-pity. Now in comic universe he's graduated, likely losing many of his uni mates (I'm going to assume they were knobs too) and his girlfriend (I'm going to assume she dumped him for being a knob), he's probably going through an existential crisis of what to do with the rest of his life. In some ways putting him in a similar place to Nick. So maybe seeing David being so lost inspires Nick to find direction for himself somehow. It could get ugly between then but it could also somehow be a catalyst that makes Nick confront his own feelings.

How real is it that the very moment Nick comes home to a safe and comforting place, clearly carrying the weariness of his continually pushed down heavy emotions ALL over his face, and dammit...he is hit with the news that DAVID is home, like HOME home?! I get it, Nick...of all people, him?! I do love how we get an intense view in that second close up panel looking into Nick's eyes (such a great expression captured here!) that shows Nick's fear (the wide eyed side look of his OMG realization) and a bit of his anger (with his furrowed, worried brow), and, behind him, the dark background and blurry "moving" lines seem to reflect how fast his thoughts are whirling in that moment ("fuck...he's going to be here for every conversation with Mum, chiming in...telling me all about how HE got into uni and how HE would have done this and that so much better.. it's bullshit. This means he will be here all the time...he better not go in my room while I am at school, the snooper that he is...OMG, my room...Charlie and I will never be alone again. We've already lost rugby time together, now we are losing our freedom in my house too..."). This sucks. It really does, and you can even see it on Sarah's face in the last panel. (sending hugs, Sarah❤️). BUT, sometimes, when you are trying to figure out who you really are and what you want for your future, having someone like David around, who, up to this point, is a great example of a "don't want to be like that" person...might push Nick into thinking about himself more, although I'm not convinced yet that Nick himself is ready for this yet, and definitely don't think he can (or should!) walk through those thoughts alone...dammit, David!

Oh god it's really one of those shitty situations where the more you think about it the worse it gets. Nick's house is Narlie's safe place. It's where they spend their intimate time and where they have their sex. And of course Nick being Nick probably thinks more in terms of not being able to offer Charlie a sanctuary when he needs it even tho he needs it (and alone time with his mother) just as much. Does David even have a job or is he going to be at home the whole time moping? Will he be a dick to Charlie? Can he even have Charlie round his house? When will he even get to hang out with Charlie if not? Nick's really going to be thinking the worst case scenario rn on top of all his other shit.

Sarah, Nick and Henry are all in the WTF club and Nellie has run for the hills. It is telling that David has headed home to Sarah instead of Dad...wonder if it was by choice? I think it could be a positive opportunity for the siblings to build their relationship. But this feels like another short term hurtle in Nick's path to calm.

I love the whole idea of Nick's home as sanctuary - both for Nick with his mom and as a safe space for Nick and Charlie. I'm wondering what the ratio of sleepovers even is at Charlie's house. Whatever the outcome, this is another body blow to Nick and I hope Charlie recognizes it as such. He can still make time for a visit to cheer Nick up like he did after his terrible math exam 🤞🏻 (assuming we have not drifted so far apart that Nick doesn't even tell him David is back).

As a person who does not get along with her brother, I can relate to how Nick is feeling. I love Nick's expression when he sees the shoes. He looks so annoyed and irritated. Henry's tongue sticking out is great comic relief.

This is an interesting development. Sarah made the decision to let David come back home for a reason. Her home is "sanctuary", not just for Nick and Charlie, but for David too. Why didn't he go to Stephane's? We don't know yet. Will Sarah make David get a job as a condition for staying? Will she put her foot down if David bullies Nick and Charlie? Why wouldn't she? Will Charlie have Nick spend more nights over at his house instead? Wouldn't that be more equal and take some pressure off? Between Charlie's family not letting them sleep over, Stephane not letting David visit or stay, Sarah not putting her foot down and David being a bully to relieve his own bad feelings, why does everyone put all the burden on Nick? And will they be ready for the explosion when Nick protests against the unfairness of it all, if he ever does? It's my hope that in the aftermath of the explosion, Nick and David will get a chance to have a heart-to-heart conversation and make some changes, and show some mutual empathy, but I think Nick will have to suffer the buildup of a lot of pressure on himself and find a way to express his anger, fear and frustration first. And Charlie will have to find a way to step in and help Nick with his emotions and let Nick know that he doesn't have to shoulder his emotional burdens alone, and he can rely on Charlie too.

I think she knows but mothers love their children regardless of their actions. She feels guilty about the divorce since David in particular seems to not want to understand that no one “made” his father leave, but he needs to have someone to blame or he has to admit his father is not a good person
