You are going to give me a nervous breakdown!

Shin__

Ouch, no bueno 😢

theo

uh oh

Christie

Oh Charlie's now struggling 🫣💜 Happy New Year

ellen de Ruiter

He is so worried. Take care of yourself charlie ❤️

Ava

Unexpected!!!

Lydia

kitty cuddles 🥺🥺🥺

.

oh no

Nikki

Oh no… The darker background in the last panel and Charlie’s expressions through these panels speak volumes 😔

Deborah Gordon

You convey so much emotion in so few panels and without words. Just gorgeous. And I’m very, very worried about them both.

Katie H

Please look after yourself Charlie 🥹❤️

Gracie

Oh no :/

Jay

these pages lately keeps breaking my heart 🥲

Charlie

Hugging kitty. Worrying over toast. Tiredness. Oh come on boys communicate.

Kristen

Nick would be so sad if he knew his not talking about his issues was causing Charlie issues and effecting his eating! 😬☹️🍂

Liz

Oh no. Relapse? Baby boy. Eat your breakfast. 😭😭😭

Victoria Panaro

It's understandable... He's been through so much the last couple of weeks, and he's also so worried about Nick because he knows something is up with him

Kas

Charlie and Nick need to have a talk about their worries. They promised to tell eachother when one of them had something going on! Keep that promise boys!

ACxo

Stress can be a big factor to someone with an ed. With experience and it’s so refreshing to see that shown in my favorite character. I just know he’s strong enough now to be able to work through this stress with his new coping mechanisms!

K Lyn

Thank you for not just acting like Charlie was healed of his intrusive thoughts because he is recovering. They come and go & I really appreciate you showing that ❤️ Helps us that relate not feel bad about the bad moments. 🫶🏼

Katrina

Uh oh Charlie is so stressed. Charlie I know you are worried but please remember to take care of yourself. However, relapses are normal and can be triggered by all kinds of things but especially stress

Brittney

Aww Charlie 🤧🤧 this is the hardest thing for both of them especially since now Charlie is worrying about Nick, and now his mental health could play up again, I know we all have our good and bad days. I'll admit there's some parts of Charlie that I absolutely relate to, and one of the things I'm trying to do this year is trying to be more openly honest about everything even though it's a lot but it's something I am working out with my therapist, but I know how you feel Charlie, we are all worried just as much as you are

Arakii

I’m sensing an emotional argument in the future 🥹

Dionne Lakey

Charlie's going to use his coping tools he's been taught to deal with this stress. He can do this. He's strong enough. It might also give him an idea of how to help Nick.

Krystyn

I love Chalie’s angry look at his alarm. The last panel is so heartbreaking! Felt that way a few weeks ago, too much stress, hard to eat but knowing that not eating is not the solution, yet… bad circle Thank you Alice! 💜

Jay

Just out of curiosity, how far are we in vol 6? like is it still the beginning of it or are we near half way? Thanks again for all your hard work and just creating Heartstopper ♥️

Chris

Nick is stressed, it stresses Charlie and that stresses me 😩

Ellen🌈✨

urgh i just know Nick believes that keeping his worries to himself protects Charlie, and everyone else, but it does the opposite! gonna be a hard lesson for Nick to learn but such an important one. i cannot wait for that conversation. i LOVE how this chapter is shaping up, go Alice! happy new year everyone 🥳

Cliff

What a vicious circle! Nick is terrified of a relapse by Charlie and Charlie is freaked out by Nick's fear of having a relapse. So break the circle, Charlie, and have that breakfast!

Juliana Barhorst

Looks about time for Charlie to see Geoff again. 🙏🏻

Glenn

Uh oh.

Sandrine

Please no relapse. Let this be the trigger for Charlie to make sure Nick understands the effect his shielding of his emotions has on Charlie, so that they have the long awaited talk, instead. I don’t think I could handle a relapse

Hannah

Same Charlie (@ the alarm)

Barb

Sometimes is so hard for so young people to put all their worries out in the open, the longer they wait ther harder it gets. Both being stressed but not saying it... when will they open up...they said they're gonna tell e/o when it's hard, but are doing opposite😭...

Claire

Oh no! Not a surprise - now worry about Nick is going to increase the pressure of Charlie's mental health struggles too. Both of them need to be open if they can and seek help. I hope Charlie will call Geoff.

Jo S

Charlie please speak to someone even if you feel it can’t be Nick at this moment. Tori or Tao will be there for you . Nick needs to open up to you asap!! ❤️

Chris

Charlie is sleeping shirtless even alone 🙂

Ania W.

I love how you drew the signs of a sleepless night on Charlie's face! And his face in the last panel...

Theaterboi27

Poor Charlie is feeling the same stressful agony worrying about Nick just as Nick faced when Charlie was struggling with his own mental health. Do not internalize this, Char. Schedule a session with Geoff. You have the strength and support to push past this. Now, eat your breakfast, and go be the rock your soulmate desperately needs.

Chloe ♡

cuddles with kitty 🤍

Beam Bugge

I don't like where this is going...

val

:((

Loveislove

Rude alarm ⏰️. Hey - maybe today is the day for some change! Boy with glasses - being helped ✅️, headmaster persuaded about LGBT safe spaces ✅️, Nick opens up ✅️, hugs and kisses and future reaffirmed 🥰. Happy New Year 🎆

Elfi

I really love how the mental health topics are displayed and how much they are in focus recently because they are so important! Somehow I can relate to both Nick and Charlie and I'm actually learning a lot from them about myself.

ucfnurse

Love the kitty!!☺️😊😻❣️🧸☃️❄️🌞✨💜☕️🧇✌️🕊️☮️

Auna 🍉

YES!!! Alice, you give so much care and realism to your depictions of mental health struggles.

arlo🦕

it’s okay charlie it’ll be okay talk to someone, i know tori would help please

Evergreen

I think it’s sweet how surprised he looks in the last panel. Like he almost forgot this was a thing that can happen. Which shows how healthy he has been for a long time! Hopefully his new skills include seeing this as a sign that his stress level needs attention, instead of seeing it as a failure of the work he has done. That type of self awareness takes a lot of effort and maturity that can be really hard (sometimes impossible) to muster, but I hope he can do it.

Loveislove

Tori would be an excellent confidante. She shares applying to university, leaving her partner and loving and leaving Charlie.

Dean

Uh oh maybe Charlie should talk to Geoff about Nick and how's best to get Nick to open up also about the other things he's noticed now he's head boy mainly that bullied yr 7

Merel

It's so important that Heartstopper shows progress isn't linear. Charlie hasn't been magically cured of his mental health issues. It will probably always be a part of him, and things like stress can create some setbacks. But he has learned ways of dealing with it so it shouldn't be as big of a problem for him as it was in the past. This portrayal of mental health is so realistic and it means a lot!

MJ

❤️‍🩹 Char. I'm so amazed at your ability to show Charlie aging with such subtlety. The juxtaposition of Charlie looking a bit more filled out and older, but still snuggling kitty is perfection.

Loveislove

I don't want Charlie to be feeling any pain or upset. I am wondering though if his worries about Nick will make him consider how worried Nick must be about him. TV Tori told him about how she worried about him all the time. That is not meant to make Charlie feel guilty at all. It is simply to indicate that Nick also went through some trauma during Charlie's mental health journey but without as defined support strategies as Charlie has. I think Nick needs his own sense of recovery but also sense of how they as a couple will handle their mental health challenges...once they have figured out what they are! They are so young but really - they are doing very well and the communication is coming along - this is tough stuff but they have a strong bedrock of love.

Ariel

Love that Charlie still cuddles kitty - but also yes...stress still exists❤️

Jordan

If we get a scene between Charlie and Geoff in this volume I’m so curious what they will discuss - Charlie’s non linear growth is so beautiful

Merel

The first panel reminds me so much of Charlie waking up after his and Nick's first kiss. Same tired eyes, same messy hair, same Kitty in his arms. And again, Charlie's stressed out because Nick isn't communicating clearly... He has grown a lot but some things never change. The fact he sleeps shirtless now shows his progress though 🥹

Lolli98

I hope Charlie is still seeing Geoff. He needs someone (best an capable adult) to talk things through. I appreciate that we get to see that Charlie isn't completely cured and he still struggles with eating sometimes. Of course I want him to be happy and healthy! But this is just realistic for mental illnesses.

Idaemilie

So much stress, sadness and anxiety….I really hope the happiness comes back soon and will stay for a long time. I miss them laughing, smiling and I really want to see them happy together for a while now (I know it’s coming but it’s hard waiting for the time to come🥹❤️)…. And it’s not soon I assume, it’s college waiting for them too🫣🥺 I get so sad seeing them struggle all the time. I can’t wait for them to get in a good place. ! I’m not complaining, I just feel so bad for them 🥺💫❤️ I hope we will get pages of them moving in together, like the Christmas drawing, I really would love seeing that in Vol 6 omg! That would be the best thing ever! ❤️ I wish them the best every single day ❤️🌟 Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year 🥳🫶🏼

Neenie

Sleepy boy

Flor López

I agree, being bipolar it took me some years to understand that this was going to be for the rest of my life. Psych therapy helped me understand that some moments you might feel you wanna die, but it's only temporary. It helps also being open about it with people you're very close to because they care about you and won't judge you. I still find some people are very ignorant about mental illness or have no empathy, but I don't waste my time with them. That is why I loved Isaac's growth in the last season. We don't have to school others about our sexuality nor our mental illnesses.

Cody

Oh boy

Calfic

This may spur on Charlie to talk to Geoff about Nick and maybe the situation with that boy who was bullied. I do worry he might tell Nick who may overreact in not the most healthy way or Charlie may not tell Nick about this for that reason . Either way not great I just don't know if they can communicate effectively right now.. For those worried I don’t think it is a full blown relapse. It's more of a reminder for him to still be a bit focused on his mental health. I mean he can't control the awful headmaster who doesn't understand that academics and having a group to relate to, are connected, and getting that club won't make students fail. He can't totally stop that bullying. Finally, He also can't make Nick deal with his own mental issues. (And I'm not blaming Nick at all, like Charlie, last year, he can't be expected to really be perfect right now, but of course it would trigger Charlie.)Thus this impulse totally tracks. Hopefully, he will end up eating the toast, and then he can discuss it with Geoff in depth.

Justin S.

Nooo, both boys are sressing

Calfic

Yes. And I don't think it is emegency, but maybe seeing Geoff sooner rather than later wouldn't be the worst. (I'm assuming he is still seeing him, it has been about just a year after he came home.)

Nyssa Rawther 🍉

It IS a constant struggle. Poor Charlie...I do love that Kitty gets featured here 🤭

Luke

Nooo Charlie :( hopefully he’ll be able to use his coping skills to prevent a relapse despite the stress he’s under. He’s come a long way so I don’t think he’d get anywhere near the way he was a year ago. Still makes me sad to see him like this.

RCM

Oh, tired Charlie...it is SO hard sometimes to love someone so much that your heart aches when their heart aches, and you and Nick have always shared such a strong sense of attunement with each other. You KNOW Nick is hurting now, and I know that utter fear and brokenness from his nightmare that he sought healing and grounding in the safety of your arms the other night is still haunting you. What IS going on with Nick, and when/where/ how should you ask him about it again?? I can see the stress of wondering how to support your person, your best friend, all over your face in these top panels. There is no sleep to be had...no snuggling Kitty and no counting backwards can give you the answers you need. The alarm is awful to hear, but I suspect there is also some relief with it so at least you can move away from this restless night. I do love how your exhausted and yawning self that has worked so hard on practicing YOUR mental health toolkit that you go into auto-mode, and make yourself a good breakfast right away. There is no one in the kitchen prompting you, it's all you, and I am so, so proud of you! BUT, that panel with both of your hands holding the plate hits hard...it's like you are cradling that little part of you that most deeply struggled with your ED and OCD...you don't have to hold such a plate with BOTH hands, but here you are, and to me, it seems like you are briefly frozen, staring down at this little plate as you experience a flashback of the past flipping before your eyes at this very moment...memories from not eating, to being in inpatient, to working with Geoff, to implementing new practices and routines at home. It really shocks you ( we can see it in your wide and tired eyes, and your slightly open mouth, and ofc, the dark background all around your head)...when is the last time you have had some flashbacks like this? When was the last time you were really, REALLY worried about something as important to you as Nick is, and in a way that you don't understand yet, but deep down, you sensed you cannot "control"? This stress, these memories are all very, very real...but, so are your practiced coping skills and work at recovery. I think you’re almost surprised at how familiar AND foreign those flashbacks feel now. Take a breath...it's going to be okay. It is...going to be...okay. You can face hard things and be okay...I know it, and you know it...breathe.

Cole Morin

Ahhhhh noooo this is what I said a few pages ago that I was afraid Charlie might start feeling his own stress and emotions that it affects him like this….he better eat that lol

Murgy

When tired, annoyed and stressed the alarm is the worst sound in the world. And the stress is showing a bit, but hopefully Charlie is able to look after himself, despite how much he is likely hurting worrying about Nick.

Maddy

Alice, I love you sm BUT I CANNOT BE STRESSING ABOUT BOTH MY BOYS.

CinD

I’m so sad Charlie is feeling this way but recovery really isn’t linear and I’m so glad he has the tools and people around him that can help get him out of this low moment in time he has found himself in.

Nils

Oh dear. I kind of like it a bit though. It gives new depth and reality to the relation of them both. They are not all sunshine and pure happiness, somehow they are "real". Nicks trouble and his refusal to talk about it with Charlie is causing Charlie Stress which is detrimental to his mental health. I am pretty sure that Charlie will never tell Nick about this. If Nick knew he would change totally, which in a way is also not healthy. Quiet a mess here. Thank you Alice for this development and the amazing Story in General

Nils

If he would tell Nick, Nick would go too hard in the other direction which would also not be healthy for both of them, Charlie getting the full load of Nicks troubles plus Nick again realigning his interests 100% to comfort Charlie.

Hannah Howden

It’s okay Charlie stress happens. You got better coping skills this time round though ❤️‍🩹

David C Witkin

Just looking down at that toast, it made me feel like "I AM CHARLIE", and then I realized, in a metaphorical way, we are all Charlie in moments like these.

DioVosje

Kitty!!! ❤️❤️

Calfic

So true, plus Nick might be overbearing, instead of just trusting Charlie to use the tools he has to help himself.

Agosława

Oh, I hope Charlie is gonna be alright, the stress is taking its toll again.
